It’s not an inaccurate observation. For what it’s worth the GFCA later ended up supporting the FCPS scenario that would move the Spring Hill kids from McLean to Langley. |
Yes. Here is the letter to Dr. Reid: Dear Dr. Reid: The Great Falls Citizens Association (GFCA.org) and members of our community appreciate the opportunity to participate in Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) Comprehensive School Boundary Review (CSBR) process over the last year and half. Our Association supports FCPS CSBR, Scenario #4, as presented at Langley High School on October 15, 2025. Scenario #4 keeps the existing Langley Community High School (LHS) together while expanding it to fully utilize its facilities. Importantly, no families are moved out of the LHS pyramid. Our community highly values Langley High School. As you announced, it is one of seven Fairfax County High Schools ranked in the top ten High Schools within the Commonwealth. You are proud of it and so are we. This reflects very well on FCPS and its teachers! Many parents want their children to be challenged at a nationally ranked High School, like Langley (#146), even if Scenario #4 brings LHS to 102% of capacity and there may be some long transportation routes. We are not supportive of adding any more neighbors to the LHS pyramid, beyond what FCPS presented on October 15, 2025, as we are already at 102% capacity. GFCA looks forward to concluding this cycle of the FCPS CSBR process and keeping communities together, like the LHS pyramid, which has proven successful in Fairfax County. Respectfully, Please note the bolded. |
I wrote that post. I live in GF and I stand by what I say. There is already ill-will towards GF - nothing I say will change that. |
I live in GF and wrote the prior post. I agree a lot of GF seriously does not want change. What we don't want is moving kids out of our pyramid to make room for other kids. What a lot of us DO agree with is moving the kids into Langley WITHOUT moving out any of the GF kids. I live in Western GF and frankly? My kids are grown and all this would do is lower my property taxes if we take a hit in home/lot value and make it cheaper for us to stay. Moving our kids to Herndon will certainly improve Herndon's stats, which is another real goal of the school board. Their own policies, combined with the county's, allowed some schools to fail and doing the "privileged kids shuffle" is how they want to fix their own errors. I'm really sick of people in this county voting for their own demise, then blaming GF and McLean for it. I fight for the same reason I would not sell our acreage to one of those rehab places. Sure we could get top dollar, but it would be at the expense of others in our neighborhood. I don't have any desire to hurt my neighbors. |
Then you're posting nonsense. A fair number of the Great Falls residents aren't very sophisticated. They praise capitalism when it enriches them, but favor government intervention when it protects them. Zoning laws such as those that restrict growth in Great Falls are anti-capitalist because they inhibit private development that might otherwise take place. |
So did you pupil place your kids to Herndon if you feel this way? |
Not true. When zoning laws are changed to favor socioeconomic and socialistic practices, that is not capitalism |
Feel what way? My kids went private. I don’t like the publics here |
You confuse privilege with capitalism. The mindset of many Great Falls residents has more to do with entitlement than capitalism. |
DP. You confuse entitlement with community. Most of us love our community. |
| New PDF out from last night’s BRAC meeting next map will be Reid’s, looks like. |
Where did they post it? The fcps website only shows Map 4. |

Thank you So this PDF is only listing changes to Map 4? For example, there are no changes listed for Irving or WSHS. Does this mean that Map 4 will now move up to the superintendent's desk for approval? Rolling Valley will still be pulled from Lewis to WSHS, kicking out and replacing existing WSHS neighborhoods? Dr. Reid said at the WSHS/LBSS meeting that the Rolling Valley move from Lewis to WSHS was going to be relooked at and possibly removed. |
I don’t see any specific revisions to Scenario 4 identified in the posted materials. |
