Only behind IL and CT in terms of proportion of population that wants to move. Not, a MD hater btw, I like MD quite a bit actually. |
It's about taxes. |
Maryland would be smarter to be less liberal. Just because you suck off the federal government doesn't mean you have to attack big business and have high income and every other tax!!
Why not be totally hippocritical like everybody in the world and do both. Parasite off the Fed then draw big business have low taxes? All this liberal stupidity is for dummies. |
Sounds like you are a real expert on dummies. |
That's what Virginia does... It's smart. |
Maryland has the top schools in the nation. We have one of the highest standards of living and per capita income. It's beautiful here -- the mountains, the ocean, the Chesapeake Bay. We have the most affluent majority African-American county in the United States.
Because things are so good here, Maryland is probably more transient than a lot of other places -- hence people want to go back to whatever crapburg they came from. I'm a native Marylander but I can't count too many among my circle of friends who are. And yes, they all want to go back to Pennsylvania (ha) or Illinois, because home is home. |
I like living in MD myself. What pissed me off recently about MD politics is they gerrymandered the one main Republican representative (representing the MD panhandle/western MD) out of office. There's now an electrion district that runs from near Montgomery Mall in Bethesda all the way up to Deep Creek Lake. It's basically a sliver of a district done to get enough Dems in MoCo to be able to vote out the Republican in WEstern MD.
I have no problem with dissenting opinions, and I think the people in Western MD have a right to be represented. They should go back to having an election district just for them, and if they want to elect a Republican, that's fine. |
Like that never happens in other states. Check out the gerrymandering that goes on in Texas -- just to give one example. |
I like living in MD. But agree that people not from here tend to want to go home. But the combination of low unemployment, good schools and decent services is a draw. That's offset by very high cost of living (even in other parts of MD). |
I know it does.. just I was hoping MD was better than that. |
As a Maryland business owner, you are an idiot. With all due respect, just STFU. |
Most people in the DC area are stuck here for jobs. Maybe schools. Obviously msny of us want to retire to someplace beautiful, quiet, not crowded... We want to escape from work a day life.
Most people who live in Maryland probably live in th DC burbs. No wonder they want to leave. |
More than 50% of Marylanders wish people would stop using apostrophes incorrectly. |
Maryland doesn't have the top schools in the nation by a long shot. Virginia, California, etc have better state schools. Other states definitely have better private colleges. |
Maryland doesn't have the top schools in the nation. I live here and I like it, but I think you'd be hard pressed to back up that claim with data. |
