How best to lose the last 5-10lbs - Please advise

Anonymous
I am 5'4, 128-130lbs depending on the day. Ideally would love to be 120. I wear size 4 comfortably but can squeeze into 2s. I would like to be comfortable in a 2.
My belly after my pregnancies is less than ideal - that's where most of my weight seems to have gone.

I regularly work out 3-4 times a week and mostly do cardio (30 minutes of interval sprint/walks) and usually 10 minutes of light weights/squats.

I try to do a 1400-1500 a day diet.

What am I doing wrong? What can I do better?

I really want to get to 120 if at all possible.
THANKS!

Start lifting heavy weights. If you search this forum, you'll see advice on how to do that.

There's no way to know for sure since everyone is different, but I would definitely lift heavier. Lifting light is an extension of cardio a lot of the time. A bunch of cardio just isn't going to do it for you. So try something else.

increase sleep, increase water, decrease starchy foods.

Might need to increase your cardio intensity or change what you are doing.

I know the scale is a convenient measure, but not the healthiest.

Strength training helps me lose much faster than cardio and I think that's true for a lot of people. I would add more to your routine. Someone on these boards suggested Nike Plus Fit Club and I love it.

Amen, amen, amen. Actually, I didn't lose weight when I started seriously lifting, but I noticeably leaned out. I lost inches of fat from my hips, waist, & thighs and dropped a dress size.
And I feel so much better! More energy, stronger, and just generally love the way my body treats me when I take care of it

I'm curious on the weight lifting- how sore should you feel the next day or two after lifting??

For me if I start working new muscles I'll have about two days afterwards where I am incredibly sore, but then I don't get sore again no matter how hard I work those muscles.

What's your breakdown now? Lots of people don't get enough protein.

Also - the scale is not your friend here. You might get to the physique you want but end up gaining weight. Also, strength training might make it possible for you to eat more.

I was once bummed because after 8 weeks I hadn't lost any weight (I work out with a trainer). But then it turned out that my body fat was down 2% and I felt like a rock star.

Thanks PP - my ultimate goal is to look great in my clothes and I don't even own a scale at home because it's not about the numbers for me.

Today, I did a mix of machines and free weights and focused on arms and chest.

Yesterday I ate the following:
Bfast: whole wheat bun with 2 eggs & coffee
Lunch: 1 slice bread with a potato dumpling and grilled zucchini
Afternoon snack: 1 apple with 2 tablespoons almond butter
Dinner: 2 pieces of Chicken and 1 cup brown rice

Am I eating too many carbs? What should I do diffrently if I'm strength training? Thanks so much for your advice!

Yes - too many carbs. Eat more veggies and protein.
