Biden's VP?

Whitmer's dad was the CEO of Blue Cross Blue Shields Michigan. That made him the most important person in insurance in the state and most certainly a multi-million annual salary. Their current CEO makes over $13 million a year.

And wasn't her mother also a Lansing bureaucrat of some sort?

She was a typical academically lazy rich state school sorority girl. It's quite obvious her dad and his cronies turned her into governor to benefit their business interests.

White privilege.

You are wrong on multiple counts - and misogynist and racist.

She has been leading there forever. If so, then why the delay and hesitation. There is something blocking Harris - hard to say what that might be. The KHIVE is quite a nuisance and might overshadow Joe.

With the growth in Indian Americans, Harris could sway that conservative minority to Biden. Other than that, she is basic.

Basic is such a code word for misogyny. There is a lot of racism within the Indian community - they might not see Harris as one of their own.

Oh we see Harris As one of our own. It’s sort of like with Obama. At the individual level, there are differences between descendants of American slaves and African immigrants. But for something like this, it doesn’t matter.

There is no colorism in the Indian community re: Tamil origin?
There would have been no communal disapproval as to her mother marrying a Jamaican? No community disapproval to her mother being a divorcee?

Colorism is way weaker than caste origin.

Harris is of Tamil Brahmin roots - super elite.

Brahmin North Indians that present much lighter would rather marry their kids off to a darker South Indian Brahmin than a lighter North Indian non-Brahmin.

I’ll be happy with any of the finalists except Susan Rice. Please someone with less baggage. Even beyond Benghazi, she has the obnoxious neocon plus the husband who is head of the Maret board who oversaw their sketchy deal to have a private school get exclusive afterschool use of Jelleff park for a pittance.

Let me get this straight. You think that someone calling one woman basic when we are only comparing women is mysogyny? You think PP hates one woman for being a woman, but the next woman is okay because she's a woman?

I think you brought your gun to the wrong corral, dude.

No, I think your critical reasoning skills are stunted. "Basic" is shorthand for "Basic bitch." Basic bitch was a slur initiated by misogynist/transphobic comedian Lil Duval to refer to AA women, and then it became a slur used predominately against white women. No self-respecting woman would ever use this term...but you be you.

You need to stop throwing that word in whenever you reply on this thread. I don't think you even remember what it means any more. This is a thread about Biden's VP picks. ALL OF THEM ARE WOMEN.

When you are comparing women to other women, and you criticize some for some characteristics that they have that the other women don't have, that's not mysogyny. You're not judging them differently based on their sex/gender that the other potential candidates aren't being judged by. You aren't unfairly characterizing one compared to the others based on their sex or a criticism of their sex.

The PP was comparing Whitmer to the other VP candidates and saying why she has characteristics that disqualify her compared to the other women.

Ha! So, when Indians say they only want someone fair and "not dark" - that's not colorism?

12:28 poster, are you talking about Susan Rice's son? Isn't he in college, so not really an independent adult? Let's leave children out of it.

I'm okay with looking into spouses though.
Didn't know that. Gross, hate that Hardy kids can look out the window at the extra super-special private school kids playing. I only knew about Jack Evans' involvement.

What planet are you from? Indian Americans tend to vote Democratic.

Generally yes but may be changing

Just like there are tons of Jews that support Dems in the us and likud in Israel, there are tons of Hindus that will vote dem in the USA and support bjp in India.

It’s a completely different situation.

I’m not saying colorism doesn’t exist — I’m saying that caste background is way stronger and even though harris doesn’t look like some White presenting Punjabi, she is of an elite background.

I am pretty convinced its going to be Whitmer at this point. There is a lot of press around her.

Two uncalled for posts in a row. This is how to divide a country. You just hate white women and you are spreading hate.

I am anti-whitmer but didn’t post the above screed.

A Joke? She has worked hard to get where she is. Harris and Rice both come from elite backgrounds. There is nothing wrong with state school. The majority of people go to state school. Research how many women is positions of leadership were in sororities of all different races. The poster only hates her because she is white. Why should white woman be so easily pushed aside. They have never been President or VP.

There are a lot of anti-whitmer people. It would be such a let down and a joke.

PP was merely Whitmer's parents' background. But going further, I also don't think her MSU undergrad -- where was was president of a rah-rah "cleat chaser" sorority and a "communication" major -- and MSU law school are in any way indicative of much brainpower. I only say that because Kamala Harris's Howard and Hastings alma maters were disparaged earlier in the thread, noting it was odd that someone of high SES (and let's be honest, Black) attended such unimpressive schools. Well, the same should be said about Whitmer. Why did a rich white girl attend a basically open admit Tailgate State for undergrad and law school? And why has her only legislation to date in Michigan benefited... take a guess... dad's insurance industry? Just a coincidence, I'm sure.

Cleat chaser is a euphemism for co-eds who date jocks; typically football, basketball, hockey and baseball players.

Her son graduated, so technically fair game but who cares that his political views don’t match his parents’?

Spot on.

I have disparaged Harris’ BUT never in comparison to whitmer — who is a total joke.
