TMZ reports "Empire" actor Jussie Smollett was attacked by two men in a Subway restaurant.

Sources close to the actor told TMZ the attackers put his head in a noose and screamed "This is MAGA country."

It happened around 2 a.m. Monday. As the actor walked out of the restaurant, someone allegedly yelled, "Aren't you that f****t Empire n*****?"

The men were reportedly wearing ski masks, and attacked Smollett, breaking a rib and pouring bleach on him. The actor was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital.

Chicago Police Department is reportedly investigating the incident as battery, and treating it as a possible hate crime.

This is absolutely horrible - and is exactly why so many of us have the feelings we do about Trump supporters.

I’m guessing he was hoping to get some press from the “incident” that would either keep him on the show or make him relevant enough for someone else to pick him up. Instead, his career is over and he’s probably going to be charged with a crime.
