Malaysia really dropped the ball with this one. Their Air Force should have been up in the air, checking on the plane once it made the U-turn. The US did this three times with the Lear crash in South Dakota.

China did it. I bet they watch the take down of the plane live on their satellites. How else would they know where to look? |
Most of the people on board were Chinese citizens. They lost the most and were searching the hardest, IMO. If you draw a straight line from where they initially said the plane veered to the right (not the U-turn story), it leads to the South China Sea. |
