First event for the Capital Cotillion season was last night. The size of the group was the largest I've ever seen. I heard a gaggle of observing moms actually refer to DCUM and this thread as the first time they had learned of CC. I say DCUM should ask for a per-head commission!

PS, the event was lovely, and my always cup is half empty DS couldn't hide his smile at any time that evening.

I thought the event was lovely too. I was welling up watching my little guy politely ask a young lady to join him for a dance. He had a fab time. My offer to practice with him when we got home, however, was politely declined.

And the jewish families who go to mrs simpsons are the ones who pretend not to be jewish unless of course it is time to flaunt the wealth at little jonny's bar mitzvah. These are the jewish families who don't miss school for high holidays and who join country clubs that would never have let their own parents in...

I've never once gotten the impression that Mrs. Simpson is any of those hateful things. My experience is that she is a warm, funny, and kind woman. And I always love how well put together she is.

I think Mrs. Simpson's is ridiculous, by the way, simply because it's designed to be exclusive. I can't think of many things LESS mannerly than having an exclusive social club for children. Talk about mixed messages.
