That would be outrageous given roads will be plowed tomorrow.

Again its the sidewalks and bus stops. As of tonight, people are forced to walk on major roads.

Have you heard of boots?

What do you think happens in other parts of the country? No school district or county clears school bus stops and every sidewalk.

Kids have been walking outside all day to go sledding. They can walk to school.

Didn’t think anyone would think this county needs more kids hit by cars but I get surprised every time I log on here.

So walk on the sidewalks. This isn't complicated. By now they're either shoveled or packed down. Boots would give you more options if you're worried about slipping, otherwise you'd be fine with shoes if you're not clumsy. Kids have been doing it all day.

Unfortunately, we have tons of neighbors who do not shovel their sidewalks.

It’s going to be dangerous for kids waiting for the bus in the morning, especially high school kids who are out then when it is still dark.

Again, how do you think the rest of the country deals with this? It isn't the problem you think it is.

In our neighborhood the unshoveled sidewalks are those on two MCPS properties.

If you're clumsy, walk in the snow. You're not going to slip when you sink a couple inches with each step.

It's amazing how dense people on this area are when it comes to snow. What causes people to immediately lose 30 IQ points when they see snow?

Or 3 feet high from plows
Mountain climbing is required

That's true where I am, too. Will the county fine MCPS for failing to clear sidewalks within 24 hours?

No need to do that, but the kids will anyway.

Do you even have kids? That are still kids? Having kids 60 years ago doesn't count.

I’m starting to agree. We haven’t even had a single pass from a plow.

We are a relatively small, dead end street, so I understand we are low on the priority list, but I am sure we are not alone.

It's going to be like that on Thursday and Friday, too. That isn't a reason to close schools. There's no reason we shouldn't be able to open on Wednesday.

Perhaps not alone, but certainly in a small minority.

Most people with kids don't have the money to live in places like that. They live in higher density areas that were generally cleared yesterday.

I bet you have the money to come up with a solution to your problem.

One severely overlooked issue is that when we open up and still have snowy conditions, most schools are not equipped to handle how quickly the interior lobbies and hallways become dangerous. Last winter when we had those 2 hour delays because of the icy conditions, we had 3 kids and a staff member go home after slipping and suffering head injuries walking into the school. Short of having everyone remove their shoes and walk around school in their barefeet there isn't much you can do after the few door mats become saturated with ice and water.

lol. The excuses get wilder and wilder.

Let's close for rain, too!
