Wouldn’t that just be a split vote then assuming the 3 who signed the initial letter vote against any nominee of the other side and vice versa? Does the R&D board get to vote?

RS gets a tiebreaker vote if it’s split

correct - several parents asked for copy’s of the bylaws and this was pointed out by one who is an attorney. these guys really screwed up. seems they didn’t read their own bylaws

So if RS is fully reinstated does he bring back NM and ML? And would they come back given that they have their names floating around Bethesda? This board really did screw things up. They need to step down once this is settled.

Good questions about NM and ML. The main ringleader of all of this should most certainly step down - he is brand new to the board so kinda unbelievable how much damage he’s caused.

They are already on Bethesda’s slate for next year. Maybe they can finish out the season. Also if the board didn't follow the bylaws when the fired ppl, then everyone should have been reinstated immediately.

Can GFR parents start a campaign to reinstate NM and ML? Seems like the Wednesday Board meeting would be a good place to start if they allow parents to attend and participate.

So, this should be the move - but will enough parents actually join the call and voice their opinions? Will they even be allowed to?

Draft a letter and signed petition. The parents are the PAYING customers after all. If they see value in having certain coaches, then absolutely start a campaign. The board works for you, not the other way around!

All this high praise NM and ML when even RS doesn’t have faith in them. He demoted them from their posts last month and the reason your tryout schedules are late is bc GFR had to schedule around NM and ML’s other teams tryouts.

You’re all paying customers after all. You’re paying to be put second to someone else’s prior commitments. And you’re paying for a club that’s been without a DOC and TD for a while now.

RS did not demote them, the board terminated their contracts. Why would the tryout schedules be late b/c of ML and NM's schedules when neither of them are on the coaching slate? This makes no sense.

I find it strange that the membership of GFR has no say in electing the board members who represent them. Way too much power sitting with people who elect themselves. Where are the checks and balances?

Anyone is welcome to submit their name to be considered for the board. It's too difficult to get a quorum of members to attend a meeting and allow them to have a vote so but anyone can submit a nomination to be on the board.

I don't understand the dismissive attitude towards NM. All I know is there are dozens of players playing at the professional and college level who would praise NM. From what I read here, the problem is about the dysfunction of the organization and not the ability of the coaches to develop young players.

Didn’t NM just get put on probation by the ECNL? Not a great look for the club.

I believe it is Union ECNL that is on probation. Coaches don’t get put on probation in ECNL.

I believe it is Union ECNL that is on probation. Coaches don’t get put on probation in ECNL.

From the ECNL site:
Probation is a potential disciplinary measure, meaning the coach's status with the ECNL is subject to certain conditions and limitations for a specified period.

I thought this was why he was let go from union for next season.

How are GFLL and Reston Raiders able to figure it out so members can elect board members? If the GFR board can’t figure that out maybe they should all be replaced.
