If Ukraine matters so much, we should actually be fighting hard for it ie full scale, not half assed sanctions on their oil and oil proceeds. |
The Rs in the Senate and the house hamstrung those efforts! They wouldn’t pass the necessary funding. |
So where is your ire directed to the right who withheld funds for more than half a year and really set Ukraine back? |
When Biden decides to provide Ukraine with what they need, they will be on board. And, there is the fact that Biden considers the border of Ukraine more important than our own southern border. When is Biden going to start really enforcing the laws that the US has to protect our southern border? |
Trump admin approves new sale of anti-tank weapons to Ukraine. The Trump administration first approved the sale of Javelins to Ukraine in 2017. https://abcnews.go.com/amp/Politics/trump-admin-approves-sale-anti-tank-weapons-ukraine/story?id=65989898 The Trump administration has approved the $39 million sale of defensive lethal weapons to Ukraine, according to two U.S. officials and another source familiar with the plan. The new package will include Javelin anti-tank weapons, with one U.S. official saying it includes 150 missiles and two launchers, which was first reported by Bloomberg News. In Ukraine, The Javelin Is More Than a Weapon Author: Matthew Parent | Mar. 04, 2022 How the Javelin missile became Ukraine’s savior and symbol of resistance. In a country full of cell phone cameras and major media outlets — and as a rapidly changing major conflict — images of the Russian invasion of Ukraine flood television and social media. Twitter serves as a rough chronological catalog of ongoing firefights with various hashtags providing information, with #Ukraine, #UkraineRussiaWar, and #UkraineWar being a few. Amid this backdrop, one weapon in particular features as an outsized symbol of Ukrainian resistance: the Javelin missile. The unending information, along with the juxtaposition of its varying quality, makes for a complicated social dialogue. Often, though, public discourse parses through this complexity and identifies a more simple narrative. One emerging narrative is that of the material and symbolic importance of the Javelin missile. Among the Stinger missiles, Main Battle Tank and Light Anti-Tank Weapon (NLAWS), and now even Soviet-era Strela missiles, it’s the Javelin that seems to have disproportionately captured public attention. But is the Javelin a divine tool of intervention or simply one of the more effective weapons on battlefields across Ukraine? WHY THE THE JAVELIN MISSILE IS EFFECTIVE Though predating the recent Russian invasion, an image of Mary Magdalene holding a Javelin missile, displayed in the style of Eastern Orthodox iconography, started to flood social media. Commonly referred to as Saint Javelin, this image symbolizes much of the seemingly miraculous Ukrainian resistance against overwhelming Russian forces. A website now features stickers and other items for sale, raising hundreds of thousands of dollars in just a few days to support Ukrainian orphans and victims of violence. https://www.belfercenter.org/publication/ukraine-javelin-more-weapon ![]() ![]() Why did Trump approve the sale of anti-tank javelins if he is so chummy with Putin? Ukraine asked Obama for javelins, better yet, why didn’t Obama sell Ukraine the javelins? So many DNC liars posting here. |
They, who? The GOP supports Russia and wants to hamstring Ukraine. Do you even know what you are talking about? And the GOP cares so much about the border, it tanked its own bill at the behest of Trump who wants to keep it a political wedge issue so people like you stay angry about it. I guess it worked. |
+1 it’s unbelievable, isn’t it. |
Yes, it is true that Trump sold Javelins to Ukraine. He also stipulated they needed to remain in the western part of the country, away from where the fighting was taking place. So, it was all optics. How is that a win? |
The cowardly Russia lovers don’t care. |
It is unbelievable how broken your record is, yes. Over and over about ThE BoRdEr. There was a bill. Your party killed it on Trump’s order. |
The border happens to be a top issue for voters. Biden has made a mess of it. You cannot erase 3 1/2 years of essentially open borders. The Senate bill was not a border security bill. It was a migrant processing bill. We don't need more migrants. We need someone who is not afraid to enforce the laws and take the security of our border seriously. I cannot name one Democrat who would make that happen. |
If the border bill was so great, and Biden is such a great president, then why was he not able to negotiate with Congressional Republicans to get it passed? Surely his management, communication, and negotiating skills are greater than those of a supposed idiot who doesn’t currently hold an official government position? |
So the Ukrainians didn’t actually use the javelins? They just carry them around and pose for pictures with them? |
