Look, I’m not anti-Israel and pro-Jewish extermination so wouldn’t have been welcomed at the rally, but violating the boundaries of the White House seems much more restrained than rioting in the Capitol and attempting to overthrow an election. Not a fan of either but the latter seems infinitely more egregious. Think the “new normal” of lawlessness under Trump has opened the floodgates for all, sadly.

DP. As an aside I agree with you - this protest was more notable for its embrace of an antisemitic foreign policy goal as well as likely being funded by foreign governments. But the actual conduct of the protest was very well organized and with message discipline (ensuring that overt anti-semitism was minimized.) Ironically the chaos of Jan 6 bespeaks a lack of organizing coupled with intense propaganda manipulation - Trump literally incited an insane mob. I hope never to see something like that again.

That’s quite a definition of “minimized.”

Did you see a collection of swastikas or neo Nazi symbols such as some have reported at the London March for example? Or shouts to eliminate Jews? I am not talking about “river to the sea” and other chants that people disagree on, but “kill the Jews” which sort of stands on its own. Those are the things that were hopefully avoided.

There are photos of red paint on the white house perimeter walls and that Lafeyette Park which is the nation's park was trashed. I find that offensive. I also didn't like when the aliens blew up the White House in Independence Day. These iconic buildings were targets on 9/11. Maybe offending me was the point if this display? The protestors succeeded. I dislike them.

+1

The protestors have also effectively neutralized Democratic use of 1/6 footage as anti-Trump campaign material and for that I dislike them as well.

It must have been a tame rally if red hand prints on a fence are what's causing the pearl clutching.

Oh Ok, so expressing concern that Americans rally in support for terror organizations and eradicating Israel is “pearl clutching”. Got it.

That's not what they were doing. Therefore, expressing those concerns is actually called "lying".

I’m confused. Are posters lying or pearl-clutching. This is a long thread, Be specific.

Those who think Biden will lose the election because of handprints on a fence are pearl-clutching. Those suggesting the protesters were supporting a terrorist organization are lying.

Speaking in generalities about thousands of individual protestors is disingenuous at best. It s impossible to accurately claim that none of the protestors were supporters of Hamas. Nothing more than biased wishful thinking.

This basically makes my point. There is no reason to pearl clutch about handprints on a fence because opponents would have simply moved on to the next equally unrepresentative person or activity. Even a single Hama-supporting protester would be sufficient to mischaracterize a crowd of thousands. That's how this game is played and I suggest not playing it.

I generally agree but took issue with calling someone a liar based on what could be an honest belief.

No one was lying. The owner asserted that no one at the protest was supporting terror organizations which is a provably false statement.

I would interpret this sign that the protester wants to keep American hands clean of killing people in the Middle East (ie not wanting tax dollars to fund overseas wars).

I guess given your post you read that it is antisemitic sentiment and that the sign means let’s clear the world of all Jews?

Is there consensus that the second message is true? Sources / facts?

And Heil Hitler just meant, Hello Hitler!

??? Heil Hitler was a salute for Hitler who wanted to destroyed the Jewish population. There’s no coded message there.

that’s right - it’s not coded. It means “destroy Israel” and “Jews are dirty.”

??? No. That is not what the words in the sign say.

The message is quite clear - purge the world of Israel; Jews are dirty.

Right. That is your interpretation. It’s not mine (and to respond to a PP I’m not particularly creative it’s just my immediate reaction).

I could definitely be wrong. But I cannot understand how you are so certain you are right.

I’m certain I’m right because I’m not an idiot and it’s an objective fact that the pro-Palestinian political forces (ie Hamas) are antisemitic.

what does “keep the world clean of Israel” mean then? at a minimum it uses a well-known antisemitic trope (Jews are dirty) to call for the destruction of Israel. You can insist otherwise but you/your kid should not be surprised when there are material repercussions for carrying that sign.

You are definitely wrong. Words have meanings. We don’t get to read a message and then decide it has a different meaning from what the actual words say because we feel like interpreting it differently. Really think about why you are so invested in defending that sign.

Red pain has been used at previous BLM protests to represent that Police have blood on their hands

https://www.msnbc.com/craig-melvin/watch/protestors-use-red-paint-to-symbolize-blood-lost-at-the-hands-of-local-police-84316741899

My take is that it’s being use to say the US has blood on its hand for sending Israel military aid. (I also just posted about a similar interpretation for the Clean poster).

Why is there such a quick k jump to think that’s there is antisemitic messaging going on??

I have no idea what the red paint means. Blood? Pain? Suffering? No one has said the red paint was anti semitic. I said that I don't like it being dumped on federal buildings. Whether by Palestinian Rally, BLM, Jan 6 or a bunch of nuns. There is no need to dump red paint on the White House. Peaceful protest exists in America with very reasonable behavioral guidelines. So follow them.

Have we really reached the point of Orwellian stupidity that we are going to be asked to pretend that a poster featuring a Star of David in a trash can doesn’t mean “cleanse the world of Jews”?

Constantly hearing and seeing dog whistles where there are none is a mental disorder.

So yes, we have reached that point of Orwellian stupidity.

Nobody with two brain cells to rub together buys your abject Orwellian nonsense. Nobody.

You need to face the music. People have been angry for a long time about how much money our govt wastes propping up a belligerent theocratic "democracy," and this might be the straw the breaks the camel's back.

Who is this "people"?

Angry Muslims? Angry stupid college kid progressives? Because it sure ain't the majority of Americans - vast majority - going by all the polls.

I concur with the previous poster you responded to. It's amazing, indeed, almost strange (and I use the word almost for a reason) that these protesters still refuse to acknowledge the horror that happened on October 7. It wasn't just shooting people. People who got shot were the lucky ones. Horrible things happened to living people. We don't need to go into the details for the sake of decency but a line was crossed. That's what intelligent adults and civilized adults understand. Whatever Israel's flaws and mistakes are, it has never treated Palestinians the way Israelis were treated by Hamas on October 7.

That's why most Americans back Israel in this situation - once again as all polls clearly confirm. Evil happened on October 7. And these protesters are defending evil.

The only good thing that can come out of these protests in the United States and even in other Western countries is the beginning of the breakup of the center left, the genuinely liberal left, with the progressive left, who is distinctly not liberal. Mark my words. It's happening as we speak. And will manifest itself in many ways over time.

The statement that Israel has never treated the Palestinian people the way Israelis were treated on 10/7 just renders you a liar. It requires a suspension of disbelief people living in reality simply cannot muster, and it relegates you to just another unserious participant in this discussion.

You’re an irredeemable liar, and no amount of clumsy historical revisionism will change that fact.

Evidently.......

Police in Washington, D.C. arrested just one person as tens of thousands of pro-Palestinian protesters demonstrated in the city on Saturday night.

Protesters could be seen vandalizing the White House fence and wrenching at the gate, and antisemitic graffiti was left on several buildings along the protesters' path through the city. The Metropolitan Police Department says it made sole arrest of an adult male during the hours-long march.

"During the event, several minor incidents of property damage and vandalism were reported to police. One adult male was arrested for Destruction of Property in the 700 block of 17th Street, Northwest. In addition, MPD is currently investigating acts of vandalism that damaged the McPherson Square Metro Station and several police vehicles," the MPD wrote in a press release provided to Fox News Digital.

The Secret Service says its agents around the White House and other executive branch buildings made no arrests during the protest.

The protesters could be seen defacing multiple statues in downtown Washington as well, wrapping Palestinian flags around a statue of Benjamin Franklin and another of General Marquis de Lafayette near the White House.

It seems to be saying, put Israel in the trash. Pretty odious.

“Just” is really showing your bias here. Perpetrator was arrested, but that’s not enough for the pro-Israel crowd. Collective punishment for all!
