VA Democratic House candidate performed sex acts online for tips

Nobody should tell a woman what to do with her body! Unless they have tokens and want a piss show.

Susanna Gibson jokes will go on for a while.

Perhaps best if they move away.

Someone leaked it....but who? This is going to be an amazing story for a journalist.

As I understand it, she and her husband only "performed" live streams behind a paywall. So you had to pay to get in and see anything. And even then, it would not be archived and you had to watch them perform live. To summarize: (1) someone knew they were performing, (2) someone then recorded the streams, and (3) they then uploaded the videos to external sites not subject to a paywall.

Hence why she is trying to claim it's "revenge porn" - because someone then uploaded the videos onto external sites that can be accessed for free via a Google search without their consent. That's also a copyright violation, hence why she has a lawyer issuing takedown orders.

There's a really good story here for an enterprising journalists willing to dig into the details of political ratf#ckery.

It’s called opposition research. Everyone does it. There are facial recognition tools now that investigators use to scour the web looking for matches.
And it’s all legal.

The research is legal. What you do with the information can be illegal, for example violating copyright laws or if it was sent to people under 18.

From what I understand she only really has an IP claim against whomever or whatever entity copied and distributed the videos (of which there are 15) without her consent. I don’t know the user agreement for chaterbate (?). I also don’t think that whatever the republicans watchdog that tipped off WaPo was watching all the livestreams live, recording and then uploaded them time after time after time times 15. So her case really isn’t against whoever reported this info. It may be against some random website that pirates these livestreams it’s got zero connection to her Republican opponent.

In order to have watched the livestreams I don’t believe you had to pay. If you wanted a private chat room to watch her pee on her husband or some other wackadoodle stuff like that you did. So anyone could have been watching, she didn’t care.

I think this couple is super dumb and narcissistic. Dumb to do these livestreams begging for money, just thinking she’s too good to get found out by her friends, family members, neighbors, employer, etc. Also she didn’t think she’d get caught in the vetting process or that anyone would bring it up during her campaign. Just utterly stupid.

In order for her to enforce her "copyright" with a lawsuit she would have had register her content with the Copyright Office. Me thinks she didn't do that. Now I don't know what agreement the platform has with her about created content but they may own the rights. Definitely not looking at the TOS to see.

All that said, I am willing to bet there is zero chance she registered her pee video with the Copyright Office.

To be the pun of morning DJs has got to be awful. I do feel for the backlash the kids will get.

She’s attractive. In a masculine way

Trash person and totally emblematic of today's Democratic party.

And this is extremely helpful in getting women to vote for Republicans.

Why?

I was being sarcastic. Because Republicans already have a major problem with attracting women to vote for them and mocking a woman for her sex life will not help their cause at all.

Are women voters a monolith? Many women think what this woman did was reprehensible, and they can still laugh at radio jokes about it without running out to vote for Dems.

Pretty much. Republicans have a major young, educated women problem.

Wow. Believe that at your own risk.

+1
The echo chamber here is airtight. So many clueless responses.

The internalized misogyny runs deep in this one.

Misogynistic? I think it's misogynistic to keep viewing women as sex things. Would the average liberal female voter make friends with a porn star? do you have porn star friends? if not, shut your trap.

I’m kind of shocked he went along with it and didn’t at least blur their faces. Good lawyers tend to be very careful about what they do/image and this was just not that. I guess his legal career wasn’t supporting them well financially.

Prostitution is illegal here are some quotes it eludes to campaign fund raising

Gibson tells her husband: 'Ill let you f*** me in the a** doggy style in a private room if someone wants to pay. That's the deal.'

At another point she says: 'Y'all can watch me pee if you tip me and some tokens, again I'm raising money for a good cause.'

At another, Gibson explains she is in an open relationship with her husband even though he 'doesn't like sharing.'

Her husband, attorney John David Gibson, then says: 'Sometimes I have to though. She makes me.'

'I've had three in a day actually,' she says at another point. 'Don't tell my husband he was the third.'

'I’m married and I think the person I’m married to is amazing. But I love sex. I always have I always will. I don’t think that when you are in love with someone it means that you don’t want to f*** other people. Like love and sex are not mutually exclusive right,' Gibson explains of her marriage.

In many of the videos, Gibson urges viewers to provider her tips in the form of 'tokens' and promises to take viewers into a private online room for the right price.

'Y'all I need more tips ... They want anal and missionary but I'm only doing it if they're in a private room.'

'Racking up one token left and right, any more? I'm raising money for a really good cause,' she says at one point. It's unclear if she meant she was raising money for her campaign.

Lucky lucky man

I would vote for her but can’t bring myself to vote for any democrat because of open borders Biden

Oh, yeah. She's in my district. I think this was super dumb, but I'm still totally voting for her. And I don't think any of my Dem friends in this district would switch their votes to Republican because of this no matter how stupid they thought she was. We all know this entire election is about abortion in Virginia. However, there are also plenty of Republicans in my district too--especially in Goochland. But they are also mostly moderate country club style Republicans. I'm not sure how many of them want abortion to be illegal either.

It is kind of ironic since Roe was predicated on the right to privacy and abortion is an issue about a woman's right to do what she wants with HER body. We have very puritanical beliefs in this country, especially when it comes to women's sexuality.

It's already disappeared from talking points that I'm seeing. So maybe it won't turn out to be as big of a deal as I thought? Youngkin will run roughshod over this state if he can.

I'm also in her district but new to the area, like most of the people here. I'm voting with the party, I don't know a ton about either of the candidates.
Really? Know little or nothing about candidates but voting with "the party" (which I'm assuming is D)? Good job at confirming the stereotype of the typical West End resident. But that's just as bad as the Rs who pulled the lever for Trump despite not liking his antics. A few Rs I know who couldn't do it (yes, there are some) grumble about the results but can still look at themselves in the mirror in the morning.

You said nothing of whether you're OK with Gibson's activities, including playing the victim-card. If you don't care or can overlook it, than good on ya but if not, then withhold that vote or write-in someone, even if it's yourself. At least other posters here, unlike her, own their decision. Politics over pride, I suppose, or they simply either don't care or see nothing wrong with it/her. All of which, as in love and war, are fair.

But get informed. Don't be a sheep. Don't be one of those low-info voters.

If anyone is a misogynist it’s her for voluntarily participating in an industry that abuses women and views them as nothing more than things to be used for male pleasure.

Most voters are low-info these days. Very little independent research on the issues and the candidates. No significant critical thinking on issues.
