I thought PVI would have a coach before the school year, but it doesn't look like that will happen. |
Yes, and that all but eliminates the idea that they would get a "full time" coach. Not time to hire a coach and staff member to actually work at the school. |
Kids from all over the DMV train with Matt Smith in summer - Bullis, St Albans, Gonzaga, SJC - it's not a secret special program or favor. He runs a training camp. It's on the SJC summer camp website. Several college players come back too. His speed & agility training is the best and you can see it in the SJC teams for sure. He pushes hard but all the kids seem to like him. |
The real problem with Gonzaga isn’t Jeff king(head coach). It’s the offensive coordinator, Neil alt. No one talks about this since no one really cares who the offensive coordinator is but Gonzaga’s offense was a joke last year. They had so much talent with the Maryland attack men Colgate attackman and Georgetown middie. Yet the offensive coordinator ran awful sets all year long. If there is one thing Gonzaga needs to do in order to actually utilize their offensive talent, it’s to fire Neil alt. Dudes playbook consists of plays from the 1980’s. He’s just out of touch with how Lacrosse is played now a days. |
James Gardner, Gonzaga dmid some how commits to Maryland. Must be nice having a 5- star attack men cousin (Johnny Gardner) already going there. Kid is riding in the coattails of his cousin. Sad. That’s Gonzaga for you!! |
What a ignorant comment. UMD does not add kids just because. If that was the case they would take bad players they do not. They only take the best of the best. They can see talent far better than you can. |
Gonzaga scored 12 v. Bullis (w) 12 v Landon (w) 11 v Culver (L) 10 v SJC (L) don't count the two post season games after the playoffs. The outlier's were the two PVI games and the D and goalie play was stopping the offense but were intense games with lots of shots on cage. They were still a top 5 offense in the DMV last year. |
Gonzaga struggled down the the final few weeks of the season, just like they did last year and the season before last.
No discipline on eye street once the weather begins to heat up. Eagles can't win big games when they matter in late April and May. |
Disagree and I am a Maryland fan. It doesn't hurt Tillman and his staff to commit to area players with some talent who don't require any financial aid to enroll at UMD. Maryland is notorious for carrying a massive roster, sometimes 50+ kids. Tills routinely takes on a few preferred "walk on's" |
You are an unkind and ignorant person. Top programs cannot afford to give one of their limited spots to a kid who is not good. Every team takes a range of kids from five stars to role players. To me he seemed like a solid dmid. Maybe Tillman- one of the best coaches in the country- sees something you didn’t. Also I am not a Gonzaga fan but what are you implying - that there is something wrong for a high school helping an athlete commit to a great program? Isn’t that what good coaches are supposed to do. |
What does GZ have anything to do with this? Coach Tillman clearly saw some flashes in this player and is going to offer him a preferred walk-on spot. No harm, no foul, and no risk in taking a chance on this kid as a SSDM. |
Isn't this incredibly common in recruiting anyway? It takes no time to come up with prominent NCAA teams whose rosters have brothers or cousins: Georgetown, Duke, Hopkins, ND, Princeton, UNC, Yale, Rutgers, Penn State, Syracuse, Richmond, Michigan. I'm sure there are plenty more. Plus Tufts, Salisbury... etc |
You must be a sad, bitter, and jeolous person to call a teenage kid out by name and say such disparaging things. Normal people would celebrate a kid's accomplishments. Get a life. |
+1 |
I guess the idiot coaches who took a Matlz or Stanwick, or Powell, or Gait, or Thompson..NVM |
