What would it ACTUALLY take for you to consider biking or taking the bus, in lieu of motoring?

Nothing. I would never take the bus or bike even if I was paid to.

Armed robbery with a handgun on the Circulator this week

And car jackings are increasingly frequent region wide so what’s your point?

You must not be aware of procreation.

The city has been pushing bike lanes for 15 years and still almost no one uses them. People just aren’t interested.

Ah great, yes, this is what we really need: aggressively gentrified public transit

Well you just made a stronger point about you being a jackass.

Of course not, let’s keep you in urine and crime
And me in my car.
We are in full agreement

Have you ever taken the Metro? I ride it all the time and never encounter urine or crime. Obviously there have been horrific crimes committed on the Metro, especially recently, but it's not like it's a certainty. I'd rather take my chances with that than drive every day and take my chances on all the other bozos not hitting me. (Have been rear-ended twice driving in D.C., both times by idiots who slammed into me while I was stopped at a red light, and I have never been a crime victim on the Metro, so as far as I'm concerned, public transit is much safer.)

Free buses (plus more frequent service) and a subsidized e-bike would definitely make me use both. I honestly never seem to have bus fare or money loaded on a card whenever I think about taking the bus.

Ha you're hilarious, so sorry it's so hard for you to avoid hitting people with your car

I'm not interested in bikes because I'd rather walk on nice days.

Buses are something that I'll only use if I have to. Even if they ran more often and had better coverage I would still avoid them because of the herky jerky stops, bad shocks, and general discomfort.

Metro and light rail are a different story. I would love to use them more often but the problems are cost, frequency, and parking. It costs too much for casual use and needs a fixed cost unlimited pass option. It doesn't run often enough to not have to plan ahead and I need parking to get there. The hub and spoke system also discourages me because transfers create more arrival time uncertainty and make cross town use impractical.

Old Georgetown Road too. Other than the 100 biker culled from around the DMW one weekend that showed up for the day of biking and photo ops and video footage, lane is empty during my commute (onto the beltway, so no thanks to bike and bus offer) 3-4 days a week. This week I saw 1 runner, 1 biker going south in the northbound lanes, and no one else. Jammed road for the other 99.99999999% of us. Nice days too. In the rain, 1/3 of road completely empty. But please, this county is open for business. gmab.
