Hasn’t Brandon written only 1 book?

Her latest video about her cookbook being next to Ina’s…. QUIT TOUCHING YOUR FREAKING HAIR!!!!! 🙄🙄🙄

Also, I hate to bag on her appearance, but she seriously needs some of her girlfriends to pull her aside and talk about her red and puffy face. That coupled with her hair color and makeup, it's not working. Also, her last IG story seemed like she was about to start crying or something.

He wrote two books. But normally publishers give you something extra when you pre-order. I could consider it if they were giving five extra recipes that were not in the cookbook, but they're just giving up recipes that are already in the cookbook. I'll probably buy the cookbook. But I'm disgusted with this publisher and their pre-order shenanigans. Not to mention, I've also been burned by Jen's "recommendations" of books that are written by her friends. Typically very underwhelming.

But you can bet I'm waiting to buy it until I can see if it has "I hate Republican potatoes" in it or something else equally divisive and ridiculous. And they burned me with the "pre-order my book" thing when one of Brandon's books offered a free journal and the journal was a stapled pamphlet.

What turns me off about all these self help or influencer types and their pre-order shenanigans is that the preorders are all about day one sales to help with the best seller lists.

Writer cross endorsements are a scam too. Who wouldn't want to get $250 or $500 a pop for endorsing some other influencer's book? Think they actually read them? Ha ha I have a bridge to sell you.

One of the reasons why this thread has 250 pages when Jen's a minor ex celebrity is that she has carefully curated her online social media presence to the degree that any pushback or criticism is immediately blocked. So there's no public square to vent regarding her sanctimonious and narcissistic public persona coupled with her toxic and predatory business model targeting vulnerable women.

I know of a then-burgeoning insta and social media wannabe influencer who wrote a book. Every social opportunity, every public interaction was all about the forthcoming book.

Several occasions where the “author” used these events to announce the publication and to actively request of anyone who’d listen to please read and review and “give it 5 stars.” The thing is, the book hadn’t been published.

Influencer gamed the system and marketed the publication of this “amazing” book like a politician. No place was safe from hearing all about how this was going to be a best seller.

Sure enough, book reviews poured in and all were 5 stars! All names of locals and to no one’s surprise, all shills. Everyone who reviewed the book got free copies! Then they got invited to author events! Became part of the author’s inner circle! Leave comments on the blog!

Comments from the person are moderated, just like Hatmaker’s. No one may dare criticize nor say anything negative about the author, ever.

Rachel Hollis is also on "tour" now and their Reddit thread has sleuthed attendance at hers. So far I think maybe 100 or so at each venue. I think the luster of these influencers has defintely worn off!

I think shine on deconstruction is fading. Evolving Faith is now posting a "brave" and "candid" plea to get more bodies at their conference and Jen bestie Jeff Chu says he hasn't been paid in 18 months. Maybe it's a sign that this fad is hopefully over?

Yeah, all these shapeshifting grifters need a new grift.

They were able to build up little cottage industries around anti-racism and deconstruction in the years leading up to Covid but 2022 is a much different time than was 2015.

The global economy is in crisis, families are really struggling. Inflation is insane.

No one has time or money to indulge these mediocre frauds anymore.

People close to them need to tell them to get REAL JOBS.

I really hope the shine on deconstruction is fading! There is probably some good in it, but ultimately it points to other things (humanism, moral relativism, etc.) that are the opposite of Christianity. It causes confusion and turmoil.

This is why I watch Jen through this forum. Where is she leading these "followers"? It's interesting to watch Jen ride the tides of what is popular in culture, because of fame and money.

I thought he was Rachel Held Evans's (RIP) and now Sarah Bessey's bestie!

Did you guys see the video of him cooking at Jen's house a few years back? Jen and Jeff were making some huge deal about a dish he served and Jen's mom was sitting at the table looking like she would rather be ANYWHERE but at that overwrought dinner party.
Can you imagine living with Jen in your family? My goodness. I had an ex sister in law who was always shilling and it is pure exhaustion being around these people.

I disagree. I'm 100% pro deconstruction. I hope it doesn't fade!! I hope people keep asking questions and stop drinking the kool aid. I've worked a long time in little churches to mega churches and it's interesting to me those who are threatened by it.

Some of these people like Jen might be making money off it (deconstruction) like the evangelicals complex does (they just switched topics but kept the money model)

I had to deconstruct to save my faith. Too bad the chuch isn't a safe place for many to do this.

For me its not the deconstruction or the leaving behind of toxic doctrines and practices. It's the cynical monetization of it. She just transferred her grift from that of a Bible Teacher to Deconstruction Expert by creating a MeCourse on it and charging for it. Everything is about making money and bleeding dry her "tribe". Everything. They are just dollar signs to her.

Did anyone else feel like Tyler and Jen’s podcast felt off, manufactured. He likes her sense of humor being like his the most. Man I get that, shared humor is huge but to have that as the #1 favorite trait seems more friend than lover. She said how he’s not romantic at all. Then he says how he knows better cause she’ll mock him by rolling her eyes. Hmm, she sure did that to Brandon. So he’s in a double bind, damned if he does damned if he doesn’t.
Yeah this just doesn’t feel like a bona fide long term love affair. It’s a mutually beneficial transactional romance. Tyler hadn’t been in a serious relationship in 13 years. Uh, that is some serious monkish behavior for someone his age. The whole thing just doesn’t sit right, very odd. But to each their own. I guess this is how you grow and learn what you want and really need going forward.
