those that did this are truly horrible and also are cowards. if they were going to kill them, the least they could have done is killed them quickly so they didn't have to suffer so much

Oh, this is horrible. From his extensive rap sheet, there's mention of threats to harm his (then) 8 year old sister and to kill a girlfriend's 2 y.o. daughter, so clearly this monster had no regard for others' lives, including children.

As an aside, it has been mentioned several times in this thread that he has 3 kids with 3 different women, however I think this is wrong. His brother (Durward Lamont Wint?) appears on MD case search as being sued for paternity so I think he is the baby daddy, and not Daron.

it sounds like he was even more sadistic in regards to children than to others, based both on his history and what he apparently did to PS in this case as well

Possibly that is true. But often knowing homeowner has or may have gun is a deterrent in itself. The more obstacles criminals have to avoid the better. This is something of a fantasy. I know an ER doctor and gun collector who was tied up in his house with his housekeeper, and watched as his guns were stolen. He didn't defend himself with them, and he's lucky he wasn't killed with them.

Not so in my husband's case. Growing up his family was subject to stalkers (dad was an actor). His dad didn't even live at his house most of the time, but at least three times people were on their property and once my husband caught one trying to open back door. The gun my mother in law showed him scared him off. We have a gun safe and an easily accessible smaller one. But my husband is even more adamant about dogs. We have to have dogs. (As an aside, the violent crime rate in our city is almost zero-but this is a product of his upbringing I believe).

There are earlier photos of the house that show a red car OUTSIDE the house's garage, next to a white SUV. But the affidavit says it was in the garage. Who moved it?

I really can't even digest what it must be like to hear someone beg for their life or the life of their child, to see the crying and the anguish and feel nothing. I just cannot wrap my head around that. There seriously has to be something physiological going on with that person's wiring. We really need to pour more money into brain research.
