People have doppelgangers. It's entirely reasonable to look at the NYC pictures and think that looks like someone I know, but from the context of the situation thinking it was not them.

+1. The Unabomber targeted certain people based on his clearly defined beliefs. |
You really do not know what she could or could not afford. You have zero idea about their life. It’s pretty clear she was going through a lot of health problems from his manifesto. He had back surgery and his sister is a doctor. |
| Vigiliantism is un-American. |
That’s not what your article says and it’s also totally irrelevant. |
I’ve mistaken another high school kid in a similar hoodie for DS more than once. |
Many people who become idealized figures supposedly for the working class start out as far wealthier. It’s not an uncommon arc, see Che Guevara as another example. |
They own MULTIPLE country clubs and assisted living facilities plus had the finances for cover expensive private school and Ivy college for perhaps multiple kids. I’m sure they could scrounge up some money for her meds and treatment. They were not limited to what UHC would provide. |

| My theory is there is a whole lot of untreated mental illness in the pretty package of a wealthy and attractive family. I would not be surprised if he showed signs of significant mental illness prior. Yes, it's hard to find the right help, but extreme wealth helps. mom could afford to go out of pocket for her health issues and his surgery. There were definitely issues there if they or the father or whoever wasn't willing to just throw some of their own money at this and even sue later rather than delay treatment. Instead this got dragged out and you have an unstable ticking time bomb hearing mom can't get treatment yet and wondering about the cost of his surgery. Money is a buffer. Use it. |
Plus they donated millions and had their name thrown on things in return. Those kind of donations probably offset their earnings so much they barely paid taxes. PLENTY of money to get top notch healthcare. Pay for you luxury care, sue if you want after and ADVOCATE for the poor and middleclass. Use your money to push for change in a legal way if you care so much about the rest of us. |
I really don’t think this was a money issue. They could have afforded any treatment out of pocket. My theory is someone had an undesirable outcome from surgery/treatments and then the blame game started. Medicine and surgery can’t fix everything. |
Poor little Luigi, someone told him "No." |
Even Buddha. |
Yes but he ended up killing or maiming random secretaries and the owner of a local computer repair shop so hardly an iron clad plan to bring down the techno state or whatever. |
