LAMB Lottery

Because about 360 families are a couple of days away from hearing that their rising preschooler didn't get into CM, and because the LAMB lottery is only a few days away. Let's start and try to top the CM lottery with 140 posts of collective school gambling rush and disappointment to distract us from the impending CM lottery let down.

Anyone going this year?

I heard that there will be less seats available this year, because they are trying to make more space for the upper grades for DCI (more kids are staying, need more room, etc).

They estimate there will be no PK-3 spaces with sibs this year. Anyone have info on this?

That's definitely not true. At open house they said 30-35 spots.

How does LAMB do it -- by picking names out of a hat or by computer? I wish I had gone to the CM lottery since it was over so quickly and I could have gotten my WL number and not had to wait a week.

If LAMB is done by computer but you can go to see where you are on the WL, I might go. Otherwise, I'll stay home.

Also, anyone know how LAMB lets you know? Is it postcard, a list online, an email?

My Application confirmation email states "You will receive an email within 2 business days after the drawing with your lottery results. "

Last year I received a postcard with my lottery number indicating I was on the waitlist. I was in the upper 200s.

I got called off the Pk 3 waitlist with low 100s, just as an FYI to folks applying.

Last year was a big expansion year, though, with the move to the new building. They are having to cut down on early childhood spots now because the elementary kids are not leaving since they have a direct line to DCI.

i expect there will be a lot less movement across the board this year due to the common lottery and so few new spots.

i would be shocked if they move that high into the waitlist this year ............ or maybe they will move higher b/c more families in the common lottery get their 1st choice.

I think there will be less movement in common lottery schools, but at least as much movement as last year in non-common-lottery schools.

LAMB said 35-40 PK3 spots this year.
