Cheap appetizer for a crowd - not dip

I need to bring an appetizer for a party this weekend. Dips are already covered so it needs to be something else. I need low cost ideas.

stuffed mushrooms - simple whole mushrooms, break out the stem, cook in the oven (face up) for 10 minutes or so, fill with little cubes of cheese, and cook for another 5 minutes or until cheese is melted. These are very popular and go fast.

This isn't too pricey but it takes a little work. The trick is going to a Hispanic market to buy the jalapeƱos--they usually have the smaller ones and better prices..

Bag mini meatballs in crock pot with jar of grape jelly and jar of chili sauce. You'd think people would get tired of it yet it's a hit and every party

Just don't bring pasta salad. TOTALLY vulgar.

But seriously, what about a coucous or rice salad? or the dreaded pasta salad? or just a really great salad? potato salad?
