| To me, they seem very lowbrow and unwholesome. |
| That's why I watch them! |
| Exactly. Because OP, I don't feel the need to have anyone see me a particular way or carve out my persona for sterile public view. |
It's like eating candy--it might seem good at first but it's not wholesome. Could you eat a diet consisting mainly of candy? |
They are completely unwholesome and lowbrow, but like the other posters, that's why I watch them! Actually, only the Beverly Hills installment. It's so gauche, so tacky, so unbelievably gross... a definite guilty pleasure. But I also watch lots of other truly great shows, such as "Downton Abbey", "House of Cards", etc. It's fun to have a wide variety! |
| Because we want to |

Same reason people slow down for a car accident.
Though I have up say I don't really watch them anymore - all that fighting, it feels like the "fun" is gone. |
| And do they talk about it at work, parties and social gatherings, etc.? |
| The same reason why I go to DCUM- entertainment. |
| It's entertainment, not some big mystery, Dummy. |
|
Lowbrow? what a stupid thing to say. Last thing I care about is if something is lowbrow.
I watch all RHs, and scream it loud and proud! |
| Women secretly wish they were in their social standings and wealth. |
| It's fun to watch all the drama. It is entertainment. I know it is not real and I do not read their blogs or their twitter accounts. I do not discuss it at parties or work. |
| I'm not sure that Downton should be considered "truly great." It is essentially a soap opera with pretty period clothes and furnishings. Just because it is on PBS doesn't make it artistic. |
