Why do people watch those housewives shows?

I watch them when I'm on the treadmill. It makes the time go by quickly.

I wouldn't go that far. These women may be wealthy, but the old adage "money can't buy taste" is played out perfectly here. The overdone houses (though I do love Kyle's house), the incredibly tacky parties... ugh. But fun to make fun of.

Oh, ok. What would you consider a "truly great" TV show, oh arbiter of good taste? Or is TV in general too 'lowbrow' for you?

Well if course! You need to DVR and only watch when the kids are asleep!

It's my own private TV time, before I go to sleep. Silly, guilty pleasure, but who cares?

It's like watching a soap opera. Just entertainment. I don't for one minute think these shows are real. Still enjoy them!

I watch my share of guilty pleasure reality TV but have never watched any of the housewives shows... which would be a good series to start with?

I watch all RHs, and scream it loud and proud!

Come on, OP. You are just trying to be a shit stirrer.

There is SO MUCH stupid crap on TV. Why does anyone watch 90% of what is out there? Are people supposed to watch news and the History channel all day?

Remember OP, there are no dumb questions, just really dumb people.

Cuz they funny and the womans wear nice cloths and they talk pretty. and there houses are real dope.

(Is that how we are supposed to answer, OP?)

I don't watch any of those but have been known to watch some trashy TV in my day. I do because it is entertaining and I can just turn my brain off for a little bit. I usually watched it while doing something else. And to answer another question, no never talked about it at work, parties, social gatherings, etc. I think the only person I talk to about TV is one of my friends because we like to watch cooking reality shows together and usually text each other during the show.

I agree-and I LOVE Downton, Call the Midwife, Upstairs/Downstairs....as well as the housewives shows-it is just tv-pure entertainment nothing more. I adore House of Cards, Homeland, Mad Men, The Americans--all provide great entertainment!! I don't expect my television to do anything more than that.

All the bad acting, fun to watch train wrecks sometimes...

"See my sunglasses? Twenty five thousand. Hahaha"

"My whole life is in shambles because of yoouuuuu Jax..."

No, I watch way too much tv, including Downton and Housewives. I just don't pretend what I watch is some work of literature and art.
