I gave up Downton sometime in the third season, but at least everyone knows it's a scripted show instead of pretending it's "reality." I don't blame reality TV for shitty public behavior, but I really started to notice lots of narcissistic, unsavory behavior at the same time they uncorked the reality TV genie's bottle.

I can't watch them. They are trashy, the human behavior is often ugly and intensely trivial, there's nothing positive to be learned or observed, and I agree with 10:26 about the intense wave of narcissism washing over our culture, between reality tv and all the social media.

This is what my DH also thinks. However, that thought could not be further from the truth for me. I am interested in all lifestyles that are different from mine. I like to see how other people interact and respond in different cultures. And, believe me, the real housewives people are in a completely different culture than me.
