What’s a Senator supposed to ask: “Now, uh, uh, Judge, if you were going to, uh, say, uh, allegedly sexually assault a uh, a uh, woman at a uh, uh, uh, er, party, would, uh, you want to put that on your calendar to make sure you, uh, didn’t forget about it?” [Southern accent optional].

That is just a tad bit insulting.
Why don’t you do it in the voice of Spartacus next?

Who? I mean whatever, but an actual alibi would be a calendar entry that conflicts with attendance at America’s Most Famous House Party of 1982.
Two old white prepoies testifying before even older white senators. I’m, like, stoked to watch, man!

If she were able to state a date - even a month or a year - that may be possible. But, without an alleged date or even range of dates (1982-83 doesn’t cut it), that would be next to impossible.

Her father is in his eighties so dementia could be a possibility.

But she has siblings who haven't come forward.

Most of us are highly critical of the version of events Dr. Ford is putting forward because they lack details, the others she said were present are disputing her account, some of the details she has claimed are contradictory to other statements she presumably has made, and it happened 36 years ago.

Do you really suppose that surprises me?

To a woman, every Republican woman on this thread who is also a victim of sexual violence has had nothing but criticism for Kavanaugh’s alleged victim. When she was anonymous, she was a coward. When she came forward, it wasn’t fast enough. She shouldn’t have come forward if she didn’t report it back that. She shouldn’t have come forward at all because it doesn’t rise to the level of serious enough in your minds. You rely on biased, right wing media that feeds you the most anti-woman, anti-victim predictable smears.

Do you know why I suspect you all do this, beyond a partisan zeal that that small segment of remaining Republican women share? I think you do it because you have internalized all the nasty, misogynist messages you’ve been fed. On some level you think it’s her fault that this happened and you think it’s your fault that you were assaulted. It is not your fault that he assaulted you. It’s not. You didn’t do anything wrong. You could report or not, as feels comfortable to you. You can talk about it now or not. But I do pray that you find peace and benefit of the doubt for a fellow victim. Peace be with you.

Also, perhaps some GOP women pp's here are resigned to denying, ignoring or condoning their own DH's bad behavior because they like the lifestyle benefits

Some GOP women certainly might be. But I was speaking specifically to all the women on here who have identified themselves as Republicans or conservatives who have said they have been sexually assaulted.

You just go on suspecting that. Nothing I will say will change your mind. Not the fact that all those who were allegedly at this party have written statements, applicable to penalties of perjury, that they have no knowledge of such a party. Not the fact that she claims 4 males were at the party, when now it is 3 males and 1 female. Not the fact that her therapist’s notes contradict her story. Not the fact that she cannot remember pretty significant details like what year this alleged assault happened, what house it happened in, or how she arrived at this party and got home. These are just some of the FACTS on which most of us are basing our thinking. It has nothing to do with what you think we have been “fed.” It has nothing to do with anything that may or may not have happened to us. You just don’t understand that the few facts that we know indicate there is a reason to be skeptical of her version of events.

Where has she spoken out to change her story? Nowhere. So where are you getting this stuff from? Right wing sources. Truly, my heart goes out to the women who have been sexually assaulted. You didn’t do anything wrong. You didn’t. It was him. Even if you consented to having sex and then changed your mind, that is your right.

It is pretty insulting, to any victim of assault here, to say that they “think it is their fault.” You have no idea who the people here are, what issues they are dealing with, or how they are feeling about their predicament.
You are not their therapist and I pray that you aren’t a therapist IRL.

Food for thought. First discusses the concept of how general “he was nice to me! A perfect gent” comments are irrelevant to assessing whether an assault occurred. The second piece touched on the Prep culture and apparent mindset about what constitutes good behavior, and protecting one’s own.

Washington Post, actually.

Her letter says there were 4 boys there. Only 5 people total, including her. Now, we find there were 3 boys and a girl. And, her.

But she has siblings who haven't come forward.

They know her and her hated of all things (and people!) conservative. They're embarrassed by her concocted tall tale.

It is so un-American. You’re the accuser. You get on the witness stand. You testify. You make your accusation. You get cross-examined. THEN the accused responds. It turns the entire legal system on its head. It is INSANE to ask an accused person to deny the accusation before he has heard the accusation being made and cross-examined. Sure, the FBI should continue its background check. It should also call everyone else who may have been at this party. All of that is true. But the idea that he goes first? I want to hear from the American Civil Liberties Union. Where are they? This is the most fundamental denial of due process.

Well according to Mazie Hirono, Kavanaugh can't be telling the truth because of his judicial philosophy. Scary this woman is on the committee.

My conservative, often very old fashioned aunt who didn't like Obama (but also isn't a fan of Trump) reposed an "I stand with Christine Ford" post on Facebook. She really doesn't post/report much at all on social media, especially regarding feminist sorts of topics, but this to me speaks volumes about how women are feeling.

This is a big thing.

And the second one just as irrelevant as the first.

Just heard from a friend who was on Twitter as we were speaking that she is now asking for an investigation of Ellison. So there's that.

Girls, in fact all teens, should learn some self defense maneuvers.

She believes Ford on what basis exactly?
