I am a different person and I also get a pulling away vibe from Lively in that scene, fwiw. And I could also understand it as Lively thinking it was supposed to be more about conversation and getting to know each other and less about nuzzling etc. But I don’t know and I hear the people saying this is a crazy read, also. I’m not sure we’re going to change one another’s minds at this point. |
Agree with this - maybe she feels like she's grown out of this type of scene or role now that she is famous enough. Which is fine, but then don't sign up - there is nothing unique about these scenes, it's hardly an MA rated movie. |
Us giving theories on why she flipped doesn't mean we are excusing her behavior. She destroyed his career |
I am seeing lots of people picking up theory that she liked him |
Agreed. I saw the clip. They are joking around, reading lines. He talks about his nose, then she talks about it and they are laughing. She’s into the dance. He kisses her neck and something is said about spray tan. They laugh and then the scene is cut. This is not SH! |
If you watched the movie, you know this scene is from when she is fighting her attraction for him. So that part of the dynamic A where people says she is pulling away - is actually on point for the movie. |
My read is that he is acting, and doing such a convincing job of being into her that it made self-absorbed Blake assume that he's NOT acting and he's really into her, which made her uncomfortable probably because her husband was on set. She has the nervous energy of a teenage girl yapping about nonsense to keep a guy from kissing her. She comes across as childish and unprofessional IMO. |
They weren't on camera or acting during their deliriously laughing late night writing sessions. |
That would mean she's a terrible actress then because it's literally a flirty/lovey scene! |
I think it's shady that she gives him a hard time for talking ("nothing needed to be said") when she's the one who insisted they talk throughout that scene.
“At one point, he leaned forward and slowly dragged his lips from her ear and down her neck as he said, ‘It smells so good.’ None of this was remotely in character, or based on any dialogue in the script, and nothing needed to be said because, again, there was no sound — Mr. Baldoni was caressing Mr. Lively with his mouth in a way that had nothing to do with their roles. When Ms. Lively later objected to this behavior, Ms. Baldoni’s response was, ‘I’m not even attracted to you.’” |
Oh, I agree with you. I think she is very problematic. But I don’t think it was her idea to take down this man. I think Ryan is a big part of it and escalated and out of control. But I don’t think that Blake lied just to lie. I think he was egging her on. I could be totally and completely wrong, of course. Maybe RR is a super nice guy. This situation is just so weird. |
I don't believe any of that happened. Her "objection" was her probably being funny and he scarastically responded. Same with his nose comment. That was the relationship they had. |
Just a blatant lie. He didn’t say “it smells so good” right after caressing her neck - he caresses her neck, apologizes that she was probably feeling his beard which seemed like a nice thing to do to break the awkwardness of doing a love scene, then she apologized that he could probably smell her spray tan or body make up or whatever, and he said it smells good. The way that she described it was very deceiving and outright wrong. He would never have said she smells good had she not apologized for the smell of her spray tan. He was reassuring her. He wasn’t making a pass. He was professional. This is not SH. |
+1 I think Ryan blowing up at him before filming started says it all. I don't think Blake actually had a big problem with him asking the trainer her weight soon they were buddies afterwards. That was Ryan reacting badly. I bet Justin felt sorry for her. |
It's so obvious from his tone that when he said "It smells good" about her fake tan he means "[Well, at least] it smells good." Like, if your fake tanner is going to get all over me, oh well, at least it smells good, what can ya do? |
