I don't know that we need individual threads started for Vienna, Arlington, older kids, younger kids, CCL, girls side of soccer, DA programs, blah blah.

If it doesn't apply to you, move along

League discussions are far more general in scope and are pertinent to the overall local soccer landscape. Bitching about fees at a particular club and how that pertains to their field space issues is not of general interest but is reasonable within the context of its own thread.

And here is the kicker, threads are free to start. They don't cost nuthin, so try it.

Who says bitching about particular clubs is not of general interest? You clearly have not been with us from the beginning.

Well then if you are gonna bitch about the club then at least post the facts vs claims of $3000 fees for ALL teams to only get a patch of practice field.

Here are the fees and they vary, shockingly, against the popular opinion, A teams actually pay more. So fine bitch, just be correct in your bitch.

Speed:
Pure Speed—Is the player fast from point A to B?

What difference does this make if he doesn't have a ball at his feet.

They also like to select players based on size in the younger age groups. So they should add another line item

Size: Pure Size - ability to truck smaller children and take ball away

Tier 1 team pays more but they get extra training that tier 2 and 3 and can buy in. 2000 doesn't include tournament, winter indoor, team fees, uniforms which after being added up gets near 3k.

Those fees are not Arlington fees, they are the fees that other organizations charge. You are paying for indoor field space rental, tournament fees charged by the tournament host. Tournament fees vary by the level of the tournament and are spread across the team. The same with indoor field rental space. The more players the cheaper the overall cost.

Uniforms are not purchased every year either. So, no, factoring all those variances, it is very possible for a 6th team to come in well below $3k per year.

I think it's understandable that some are not direct Arlington Fees but they are what it would generally cost a parent to participate in the program each year (minus uniform). Can't play without a uniform, not optional.

But they aren't Arlington fees at all so it is not honest to claim that Arlington "charges $3000 per year", that is the point.

Does this sound better "It costs a parent $3000 per year to have their child play in Arlington Travel."

Arlington is one of the most expensive clubs in the area. My son's club charges $1,600 for the year, that includes four tournaments. The only additional items we have had to buy are the uniforms. They change the training kit color every year, by the way.

I, for one, find the information about the individual clubs both interesting and helpful. I know a lot of it is biased and snarky but I still think it can be useful information as those of us less knowledgeable about the general NOVA soccer landscape try to navigate through. So, please, don't listen to the bitter person that apparently thinks we only want to talk about nebulous NOVA soccer generalities.

Nope. FPYC doesn't have training kits.

it's always funny to hear parents speak the lingo of the sports that their kids play. Or wear something related to on "game" day

Ditto. Specifics help parents and players. We can decide whether they are a club-basher or providing helpful, inside information / points of view. So, another vote for ignoring those advocating new and seperate club threads in these circumstances. The talk happens to be about Arlington now, and I am sure McLean or some other club will be next.

No it doesn't because they are mostly just bitter ignorant posts about clubs. Most of the time it is unnecessary club bashing. If you want to bash a club go ahead just start a fucking thread dedicated to it and you can sound just as stupid as the Vienna thread.

I too come here for information but a bunch sour grape, club bashing threads are not information, they are simply bitching.

I find the Club threads highly helpful. I'm at one of the clubs the posts have been very spot on. We had same gripes and glad to know we aren't the only ones rejecting the Kool-aid.

I also found out a lot more about the people behind the scenes and motives. All very, very useful. I wish I knew a lot of this shit prior.

Seems like bros get angry that they can gloat and gloat about superiority, but one negative comment sends them into high defense mode.

That would be incorrect for a top level team. You are leaving out travel costs, which easily double the 3K. If you play National League, that's at least two trips, plus throw in two more out of town tournaments in all likelihood. Plus Regionals, and Nationals if you make it there. $3K easy if you just send your player, double that if you take the family for those. And that does not even count the gas and lunch money for the endless trips to Richmond, Hampton Roads, Charlottesville, etc. for CCL and State Cup.

Well, you're fine one to talk about bitter, aren't you now? Again, you are not in a position to state that negative comments about a particular club are "unnecessary." That determination is subjective, and many posters have weighed in to say they find any and all comments about clubs helpful.

If you don't like it, don't read it! And if you want to start positives threads about your club or others, go ahead--it's free you know!

Brilliant! LMFAO! Ignore these knucklehead forum police worried that their precious club might get mentioned negatively in this thread. Bring it all on, positive, negative, and otherwise. Ignore the DBs that shout "troll" anytime anyone doesn't talk in generalities about some CCL Club that got the shaft, for good or bad reason. Give us the dirt and names.
