You don't honestly believe that's going to happen, do you? |
Are they really planning for that or just appeasing parents by saying that? What is going to change to make teachers feel better in October? |
They want a gradual return to campus so students can get acclimated and learn new protocols, get used to wearing a mask all day, etc. |
Who knows what's going to happen. I'm planning for both scenarios. |
Is that really want the teachers want? Or are they just stalling? |
It's quite possilbe that there is something going on between admin and teachers that we don't know about... however, I know Burgundy teachers and there is no way that they are stalling or being intentionally misleading. They are caring and dedicated teachers. |
Hahahahaha they are so caring and dedicated they threw a temper tantrum about going back to work and abandoned their students. |
No, they didn't. Administation failed to properly communicate with and lead. They didn't involve teachers early enough in the process. The teachers are not refusing to go back to work. Many of them have spent a great deal of their unpaid summers both on and off campus making preparations for a return. This is a leadership problem and the teachers are taking the heat. Not cool and I -- someone who knows many of them very well -- will continue to defend them. --a parent |
I have no dog in this fight whatsoever, literally no association with Burgundy Farms, but when I see comments like yours it makes me think people like you ought to be prohibited from sending your kids to any school and forced to homeschool. Your disdain and contempt for the people who attempt to educate your children, whether it's with DL as the majority of schools are doing now or in person, is nauseating. You ought to be ashamed of yourself and if you say these things around your kids you are despicable. |
The fact remains that the Burgundy teachers should be embarrassed about their behavior. Everyone else is going back to work. Why can’t they? |
Agree. The entire school should be ashamed of themselves. How dare the parents demand the school have at least some plan when they pay over $30k a year for tuition and then are gaslighted by the administration into feeling bad that they demand some level of service for their money? I can't believe we are losing another years tuition because we were lied to. |
Except that’s not the facts. Burgundy teachers have been working all summer. They are working right now. They are 100% not at fault here and stating otherwise is speaking from an uninformed perspective. Be mad at administration if you need an outlet but the teachers are absolutely not to blame. To clarify, most teachers in the area are going back to work in the DL context. Why do people continue to talk about this like teachers aren’t working? |
100% correct |
Because for the elementary set DL does not necessarily mean kids are being educate. It’s a woefully inadequate substitute. I’d rather just homeschool. The teachers are bending over backward trying to make it work for naught. Just because you’re working or trying hard doesn’t mean it’s working. |
It does sound like a leadership misstep. So what is a solution? How do we safely get teachers and students back on campus? If some think that is not possible, what is the solution for kids to get an education? In my personal situation, I don't even know if my kid will be able to do DL. My partner and I both work and we don't telecommute full-time. I need to put my 6 YO into childcare and he won't be able to do DL from there consistently. Burgundy needs to help us come up with a solution. What is it? |
