But Sessions has a lot of issues, like lying to Congress |
| I could believe it was the Conways, working together. I doubt anyone who uses "lodestar" regularly would be dumb enough to throw it in there, but I wouldn't doubt that the person(s) who wrote the article knew exactly what they were doing by including the word. I'm sure Trump dislikes George Conway, but he--or his lawyers-- are probably at least smart enough to be leery of going up against him or his wife in a legal fight. |
|
So now, Pompeo, Pence, Neilson and Mattis have claimed they did not write the Op-Ed.
Who believes Pence? |
|
What is so frustrating about this op-ed is
1) tens of millions of us knew years ago that Trump was without morals and principles and a guiding ideology, and 1a) we knew that the GOP would allow it to happen over and over again to get the things they wanted which were outlined in this article -- deregulation and corporate and wealthy tax cuts. Not a single line of this piece was shocking. As far as who penned it, my money's on a Pence staffer. |
Deep Throat also claimed for years that he was not Deep Throat Don't take these denials as gospel |
|
Instead of obsessing about the one person who authored the piece, consider that it refers to "many of the senior officials in his own administration are working diligently from within to frustrate parts of his agenda and his worst inclinations." Also the piece refers to "like-minded officials" and uses the word "we" often when referring to efforts to stop Trump's decisions or impulses.
This implies collaboration or even conspiracy. So while the author will be outed eventually (and no doubt the author knew this would happen and this is probably part of their strategy), the important and critical point is that there are many officials working against the President. We are already in the midst of a democratic and a constitutional crises. The big question now is what will happen next? |
| Nobody questioning the timing and reasons behind the Op-Ed? Why would the "patriot" put himself/herself in danger in writing such a piece? |
So is this group the "Deeper State" or the "Not-quite-as-deep State" ? |
This is a Republican who wants the GOP/Republicans to still appear to have some credibility once Trump goes fully down in flames and other people go with him. So s/he is doing his/her best to put slight distance between this shadow group and Trump, to later convince us they are the heroes of this story who kept the Republic together by a thread. As far as timing, you think it's Kavanaugh-based? Or that something is soon to drop from Mueller? |
The Shallow State? |
| I really believe it's a group of people. |
If that's the case, they're a group of cowards. |
Yes, Trump loves critics and allows them to speak freely. |
| Does anyone else feel like this is just another manufactured distraction? We didn't learn anything new from this Op-Ed, but it gives Trump something to be a victim of and to rail against with his base. |
Derp State? |
