Nope. I think her husband is the reason the cabinet hasn’t invoked the 25th Amendment—not enough votes in the Senate. That’s the reason for this op-ed. Unless they have McConnell on board, they can’t successfully remove Trump.

The piece says they decided against it. Both Chao and McConnel were at McCain’s funeral. She’s no dummy, and they are total insiders who would be privy to these anecdotes. They also have nothing to lose.

It would pass if McConnell agreed to bring it to a vote. All or most of the Dems plus a handful of Republicans. Certainly Corker, Sasse, and Flake would vote with Dems. It’s McConnell who’s blocking it, probably until Kavanaough is confirmed.

Yes. The Rs use this situation for SCOTUS appointees and tax cuts. Justice Kennedy’s retirement was a a coordinated effort to get whatever they can before the ship goes down. It’s sick.

The emphasis on diplomacy, academic references pretty much make that a slam dunk. And it has to be someone who has been around long enough to be able to talk about events early on (25th amendment).

So there you go: someone like Matthis, Dan Coats, Pompeo or Kelly.

But it also has to be someone who really cares about tax giveaways and some other conervative agenda items.

It’s not Pompeo. He’s almost as bad as Trump. I think it’s Matthis.

No way, no how it is Mattis. He’d stand up and do it publicly.

I’m leaning Coats or Haley.

I also don't see Mattis using that whole "free minds" thing - or sticking around because he loves tax cuts

She is not a policy person. She is a pollster. And, whether you like it or not, she dragged him across the finish line. So, she has not credibility because she is the one who put him there. It has to be someone who joined the administration, not created it. She'll have her job after she leaves, because Trump in office is the greatest publicity she's ever gotten. Doesn't matter if he ends up imploding or not.

I don't like her but I've often thought she's quite smart. And her DH is vocally anti DJT. I could see the two of them collaborating to write this. Not to be "patronizing" to Kelly Anne as another poster wrote. But does anyone think the author didn't have someone looking at this, proofing it, giving feedback? And who would you trust more than your spouse?

I initially thought Pence but the above is making me reconsider.

Are we talking about the same article here? Someone mentioned skipping 11 pages and someone mentioned the focus on military issues in the op ed, but the op ed I'm seeing is short and has limited mention of the military.

Kelly Anne is no dummy and she has a long history of working for *respected* Rs. Including Pence, previously. I could see her quietly opposing an R not worthy of that respect.

"Conway graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in political science from Trinity College, Washington, D.C. (now Trinity Washington University), where she was elected to Phi Beta Kappa.[21] She earned a Juris Doctor with honors from the George Washington University Law School in 1992.[22] After graduation, she served as a judicial clerk for Judge Richard A. Levie of the Superior Court of the District of Columbia. - Wikipedia https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kellyanne_Conway

And here is a link to her husband's published article about the Constitutionality of the Mueller investigation:

I just can't imagine it's Pence. Sure he knows he's hitched his wagon to "Satan," but he's much too cautious a snake to do something like this. He's playing the long game. It will end up being someone much less obvious.

It's not Pence. If it were discovered it was and the 25th Amendment kicked in, he is the direct beneficiary. It would be disqualifying.

Or several of them could have worked together to issue the op ed, even though it officially was penned by only one of them. Again, I see the past working relationship of Kelly Anne and Pence as possibly relevant.

And Kelly Ann's husband also has legit Repub credentials, despite his opposition to Trump. And he's no dummy either.

I think it's the Conways.

"Conway was one of the lawyers who represented Paula Jones in her lawsuit against U.S. President Bill Clinton.[4][5] During the representation of Jones, he worked closely with Ann Coulter and Matt Drudge.[6] On March 29, 2010, Conway argued the securities case of Morrison v. National Australia Bank before the U.S. Supreme Court, and won with an 8-0 vote with an opinion by Justice Antonin Scalia.[7]

Conway had been considered a candidate for some U.S. Department of Justice posts. In January 2017, Conway was considered for the post of Solicitor General along with Gregory G. Katsas, prior to the post going to Noel Francisco.[8][9][10] On March 17, 2017, Conway was reported to be the nominee as Assistant Attorney General to head the Civil Division at the U.S. Department of Justice.[11][12][13] However, on June 2, 2017, he announced that he declined to pursue the post.[14][15]

Personal life[edit]

He is married to Kellyanne Conway, counselor to President Trump. Introduced by Ann Coulter,[6] they have four children and live in Washington, D.C.[16] Conway previously dated conservative pundit Laura Ingraham.[17] Conway is half Filipino on his mother's side.[18]

And here's Kelly Anne talking about the op ed (or *not* talking about the op ed) on her pal Laura Ingraham's show:

The latest theory I am hearing is that it's Larry Kudlow...he apparently also uses the term 'lodestar'.

If he's incompetent and can't do his job, then he needs to go. We aren't talking about him running a company into the ground, we are talking about a country.

If the President wants to fix this mess, his first step should be to stop tweeting and start acting like a President. He should hire qualified people to work in the White House. And stop golfing. Make some sacrifices to run the country and show you care.

It's not going to happen until there is a cataclysmic event. Devastating midterms, a devastating Mueller report, something like that. Run of the mill crazy sh*t is just run of the mill crazy sh*t.
