Also the piece refers to "like-minded officials" and uses the word "we" often when referring to efforts to stop Trump's decisions or impulses.

This implies collaboration or even conspiracy.

So while the author will be outed eventually (and no doubt the author knew this would happen and this is probably part of their strategy), the important and critical point is that there are many officials working against the President. We are already in the midst of a democratic and a constitutional crises.

The big question now is what will happen next?

So is this group the "Deeper State" or the "Not-quite-as-deep State" ?

The Shallow State?

Derp State?

No reasonable person expects that. Anyone calling non-wingnuts hardcore or extreme liberals has never lived in the ‘60s or ‘70s. Or the Eisenhower years.

The very fact that the American right persists in thinking mainstream American liberals are "hard left" is one of the many, many reasons we treat them like they're stupid.

I doubt anyone who uses "lodestar" regularly would be dumb enough to throw it in there, but I wouldn't doubt that the person(s) who wrote the article knew exactly what they were doing by including the word. I'm sure Trump dislikes George Conway, but he--or his lawyers-- are probably at least smart enough to be leery of going up against him or his wife in a legal fight.

and as husband and wife, they don't have to testify against each other....

Beginning to think it’s David Dennison so that Trump supporters will rally around Trump because he is under siege by the mean, stupid liberals.

If that's the case, they're a group of cowards.

Or they want to avoid being fired so they can continue doing what they're doing...

Does anyone like Don McGahn for this?

But why? What is the motivation? It can’t be a CYA move because we would argue this was a huge cop out. It’s bullsh*t. It doesn’t make any sense.

Wake up and smell the stinky socks. I can't believe you and so many others are so easily fooled. You are going to feel really stupid when this all comes out. Sorry for your loss.

I love how the author acts like we just magically fell into this nasty discourse. um no, republicans via fox news, have been dog whistling, instigating and race baiting for over a decade and really became unhinged when Obama was elected. The republicans and their immoral nastiness, win at all costs got us to this point. An anonymous author is no better. You are the company you keep.

Nothing stays secret in this town very long. The identity of anonymous writer will be known by this time next week if not sooner!

Exactly but you cannot expect a coward like the author to actually take a stand.

I have a feeling this will stay under wraps until said person leaves their job.
I mean that could be next week, but maybe not if they feel they’re part of a safety net.
