Laura T. sounds rather like a crow with laryngitis. She is single handedly destroying the perception of the English language. If it were not for her husbands lofty status w. ABC, she would be back in print journalism, where she belongs. I hit the mute button immediately upon seeing her face. Katty kay or Jane O'Brian or Yalda Hakim would be my preferences.

Good lord I really like her... and her voice.
Quit being so snooty and give the poor woman a break. |
Oh Yes. Poor woman, if you are not taking into consideration the many listeners who have to endure the sound of her voice.
Millions speak with the same accent as Laura and there's nothing wrong with it. Let's leave her alone and allow her to speak as she has since childhood.
With all these comments it is surprising that BBC doesn't pay attention. It must be the pressure from her husband. I simply hit the Remote and wont listen to the screech.
This is very strange. I don't hear a screechiness in her voice at all.
Perhaps you need a good Hearing Examination. The screechiness is painful to the majority writing on this Blog. |
Wow, after what seems like a lifetime of just sucking it up and taking the pain pill of her voice, I wondered if I was alone. Now I don’t feel like something is wrong with me. Thank God she is not the anchor every night. Please, won’t one of her friends help her understand and tame this accent?
BBC America seems to be tone-deaf when it comes to listening to the majority of us who can hardly understand what Laura Trevelyan is saying in her unintelligible accent! I call her the "duck lady" because her voice sounds mostly like "quack, quack". I still think she is left in her post because her husband is a big cheese in the company. All this, notwithstanding her good looks and excellent journalistic skills. But if she can't bring it across, what's the use?
She really is awful to listen to. I switch channels when I see her face.
I may not be an expert on accents although I have travel to countries all over the world, and I can honestly say that I think Laura Trevelyan's accent is great and she is the best reporter that BBC has. Of course I've only lived some 80 plus years and still have much to learn, but 'll take Laura Trevelyan's reporting over anything I've heard on BBC and many of our politicized networks I hear in the us. Not trying to disparage this country having severed in the military during the Korean War, but our networks have lost much of their credibility over the last several years.

I am sorry to have had to switch channels this week. I couldn't bear listening to this screechy voice and horrible accent every night. Remotes are wonderful.
Such nasty comments!
My goodness!! She does sound horrid! I agree with all those negative comments and wonder why nobody from BBC monitors this Site.
Actually, we rather enjoy her accent. We think she sounds very good.
