But personally. I NEVER liked Prince's material or his sound. Nope Never.
Didn't like his wardrobe either,
Gimme GUITAR SLINGIN MEN 6 feet tall with big marshall stacks and not candy ass ruffles or hair.
That 80.s stuff was horrible.javascript:emoticon('');

Sorry you're so basic

+1.

I alternate between being horribly sad and devastated that he is gone, to so damn thankful that he was such a huge part of my life. I've never been more grateful to have been born in 1973 than now - realizing that I came of age during Purple Rain and the profound effect that had on me. Such a beautiful being, Prince.

Amen. The kicker is that with Prince you just didn't see it coming. Jeez! If there were ever a person that I thought would live to be 100+, it was Prince.

I heard Sometimes it Snows in April on XMs Prince tribute channel this morning. Those lyrics

Of course Prince was a virtuoso guitar player whose technique could whip those 6 feet tall guitar slingen men with their big marshall stacks's a$$es.

Just ask Billy Gibson: https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/arts-and-entertainment/wp/2016/04/22/defying-description-zz-tops-billy-gibbons-on-prince-the-sensational-guitarist/

I drove by a church this morning and there was a cross draped in a piece of purple fabric. I'm not religious so clue me in if it means anything else, but to me it was a clear symbol of Prince. :`(

Eastern Orthodox Easter is coming up and purple is a deeply symbolic religious color -- could be that and/or Prince!

I know, right?

I mean who could have possibly guessed what would happen to Prince given his extensive drug abuse?

Or Elvis? Or Joplin? Or Michael Jackson? Or Whitney? Or Hendrix?

I mean, it is all just SO unpredictable, right??!

Exactly. Amazing how we're all so surprised.

Nasty and jealous family members spreading this stuff.

I caught the end of that song on Sirius this morning after daycare drop off. I have loved that song since first watching "Under the Cherry Moon" back in the day. I was on the verge of tears, but then burst out laughing at the absurd transition into "Darling Nikki"! I could see Prince smiling up there.

PP above and I agree. When Vanity died in February, I was thinking how healthy Prince was, and how great he was doing all-around. I was gutted when I heard the news, and am just so darn sad. I wish I was back in Minneapolis right now.

Too funny we were doing drop off. We just pulled up and waited a few moments for the song to end. Darling Nikki came on and we got the kids out of the car so fast

I hope the channel continues a few more days at least. I'm discovering Prince songs I'd never heard before. My 5 year old says his favorite new song is "Blueberry Beret"

Good news, his family plans to turn Paisley Park into a Prince museum. Girls trip to Chanhassen! We'll see if it ever pans out. They'll probably just get his money and abandon the plan.

Forgive me if this has been mentioned upthread, but if you want to see some epic, haunting, masterful work by Prince, Google the 2008 video of his cover of the song "creep" by Radiohead. Masterpiece

My sister lives a few blocks from First Avenue and she could hear the party the night he died. Epic party.
