RIP Prince

I wish all the drug-awareness bores would just buzz off. He may have abused drugs, he may not have. I didn't know and none of us will ever know why. What many of us DO know is that he left a mark on our brief time on this planet with his artistry and passion. He was uncommonly talented and sensitive and that can be a very lonely place in this world (e.g., look at all the drug-awareness bores hounding this thread who don't have the decency and empathy to just shut it for a second). His music is a part of my life and I'm sad that for me that there won't be more and I'm sad for Prince that he won't get to make more. None of us is getting out of here alive and, if all of us were judged the way Prince is being judged now, every single of us would surely be found wanting. What exactly is the point of all this finger-pointing and pearl-clutching?

Exactly. And who knows if that's even true? Maybe he needed he next "fix"? And couldn't get it in the hospital.

Yessssss!. I don't care what did to get himself through the day. I am so sorry that I didn't attend more of concerts, listen to more of his music and appreciate his greatness. I keep listening to his songs over and over. Ones I had long since forgotten. "Still Waiting" is in heavy rotation right now.

Agree on listening to his songs over and over. When 2 R In Love, Scandalous, 17 Days, Money Don't Matter 2Nite, Anotherloverholeinyohead, and so many more including all the amazing hits.

I alternate between being horribly sad and devastated that he is gone, to so damn thankful that he was such a huge part of my life. I've never been more grateful to have been born in 1973 than now - realizing that I came of age during Purple Rain and the profound effect that had on me. Such a beautiful being, Prince.

He danced. He was a fashion icon. Bruno Mars? Meh. He dances and sings. Same with Beyoncé. Even Michael Jackson wasn't as accomplished in terms of his range- he was a singer and dancer. Prince was the full package. The amount of talent that man possessed for so many different things was incredible.

Yes, he was extraordinarily talented.

He was truly amazingly talented. Unforgettable. The world has really lost a legend.

Agreed, although I can enjoy them it's really the musicianship that I find lacking in so many of today's artists. A vocalist with a live band beats autotune and a synthesizer any day.

Absolutely. I was watching a video of Heart on stage in the 70's and....wow. The raw talent on that stage....amazing.

If there is any consolation at all to any of this, his videos of 1999 and Little Red Corvette are online and available to watch now. I had really missed seeing those videos. His dancing, his vocals, his expressiveness, his charisma...one of a kind.

It is sad when any well known pop culture figure dies, not just ro ck musicians.
But personally. I NEVER liked Prince's material or his sound. Nope Never.
Didn't like his wardrobe either,
Gimme GUITAR SLINGIN MEN 6 feet tall with big marshall stacks and not candy ass ruffles or hair.
That 80.s stuff was horrible.javascript:emoticon('');

It's a shame he's not around to see how loved he still is, and it's a shame we'll never get to read his memoirs. He was awesome in so many ways, in some ways most of us didn't know about. If Prince ran for President he probably would have won.

YESSSS again!. I listened to 17 days about 40 times today. When 2 r in Love--another 25, Private Joy--at least 100! My two year old now knows all the words! My most favorite song is "The Beautiful Ones". I didn't listen to it at all. Makes me too sad.

I just got done watching his Superbowl half-time performance in the pouring rain. Magical. I wish I had seen him live in concert.
