Ex- girlfriend showing up in lingerie ... boy should have said no.

But then again boys too often lead with their penis and this is a prime example.

Exactly why should he have said no? She's there explicitly announcing her enthusiastic consent, he takes her up on her offer, they have sex, and then seh accuses him of raping her. Why should he have said no? This thread is ridiculous. I agree with the PP who asked, "who made you the rape arbiter?" Here's yet another case where there was CLEAR CONSENT, and yet the man is still being accused of rape. Get a grip on yourself.

So wait, your objection to the idea of consent is that people might be accused of something they didn't do? So if the system works like this:

Accuser: You did X!
Accused: No, I didn't.
System: We find that the accused did not do X.

that's a failure of the system, because the system shouldn't even have gotten to the point of the accuser accusing?

Yow.

Where on earth did you come up with the moronic conclusion that I (or anybody else, for that matter) "objects to the idea of consent"?????? No one has said that - or even hinted at it. Consent is necessary, of course. The argument here is that even WITH CONSENT, there is always the chance that the man will be accused of rape/sexual assault after the fact. There is nothing anyone can do, even after gaining consent and engaging in consensual sex, to ensure that the woman won't decide to lie and label the sex "rape". Correct?

You have some very muddled and circular debating "skills".

Why yes, that's true. Whenever you interact with another human in any way, there is always a chance that the other human might lie about the interaction afterwards, and this is out of your control, because you can only control what you do and not what the other person does. I don't think anybody disagrees with this.

And the issue we're seeing play out right now is that punishment is handed down based on the accusation rather than the ultimate finding of the system.

Could you please provide an example of a system in the US punishing somebody based solely and exclusively on an accusation? Besides civil forfeiture, that is.

If there is such a system (as in the case of civil forfeiture), then the problem is the existence of such a system.

My goodness, you're tiresome.

Speaking of teaching women not to lie about sexual assault - the latest from what has become the face of campus rape accusation:

wow that's a new low. Previous posters comments how rape is no longer just a stranger jumping it from the bushes, here is a new definition of rape for you. Watching a video put out on the Internet with the "wrong" intentions. Any action can be defined as rape now.

You might be wondering why I've made myself this vulnerable. Look—I want to change the world, and that begins with you, seeing yourself. If you watch this video without my consent, then I hope you reflect on your reasons for objectifying me and participating in my rape, for, in that case, you were the one who couldn't resist the urge to make Ceci N'est Pas Un Viol about what you wanted to make it about: rape.

The woman who made this revolting video is clearly dying for any kind of attention whatsoever. I would never click on her moronic video for any reason, but mostly because she's one of the most self-absorbed, arrogant people I've ever heard of. And I wish I hadn't heard of her. Exactly how does this kind of stunt help real victims of rape? Oh, that's right. It doesn't.

Sickening.

her message is loud and clear though: if you even dare question her account of rape, you are part of the problem. The definition of rape is what she defines it to be, not based on logic or facts. Pretty much like what this whole discussion has been like...people expanding the definition of rape and consent to include everything and anything. She is the most extreme and worst of this illogical thinking.

Here consent ends of you watch the video she put out for the whole world to see hit come with impure thoughts, hence "raping" her. Gross.

I'm waiting for an example. Thanks.

No, you're trying as hard as you can to spin this conversation into something it's not, in the hopes of getting everyone off track. You've ceased to make any sense whatsoever, though you weren't making much to begin with. Bye, now.

Hopefully DS has his dad as a good role model of respect dad shows to wife, daughter, and other women/girls.

hopefully, you are a good toke model to your daughters teaching them not to hate and fear men simply because they are men and to take responsibility for their own actions and safety.
