if you think the city would vote for a white guy from the south.

I like him and think he would be a good mayor, but not sure if the electorate feels that way.

Not even Brian?

Yaida Ford - she will have to be a write-in. Look her up, she's getting my vote. It's shameful that all candidates can't be at the debates.

Isn't this the lady whose campaign website is all about backyard chickens?

I guess I'm going to put Rini Sampath first. Ranked choice voting is all we can count on to save us at this point.

Zero vision, next to zero policy, and a totally uninspiring record for 13 years on the council. He was most animated talking about getting rid of traffic cameras, because yeah, more crazy driving is exactly what we need. He keeps talking about “showing up for dc” but doesn’t bother to show up to candidate forums or community meetings. Not ranking him at all.

I don’t agree with janeese on every single thing but she is great on the issues I care about the most. Ranking her first.

It's completely wild that McDuffie is campaigning on ending "predatory enforcement". What city does this man live in? He and his Council buddies did away with any remaining consequences for drivers who don't pay their fines, MPD has long since given up on traffic enforcement, and the only time I've seen the feds pulling anyone over was over a few weeks last year the administration called in the NG. There is no enforcement whatsoever for him to end! Meanwhile, traffic fatalities are up 220% over last year, firmly establishing maniacal drivers as the greatest threat to the life and limb of every DC resident that is not a teenage gang affiliate. I think most voters in this city realize this. Why in the world McDuffie thinks it will be a winning issue for him, I have no idea.

Because his base is middle class Blacks, who love driving everywhere and despise being mildly inconvenienced and hate the possibility of facing accountability when behind the wheel. Read some Courtland Milloy columns - he was the avatar of this particular segment of DC.

I think McDuffie is referring to the fact that the city now issues more than three million traffic camera tickets each year, even though there aren't that many cars in the city and traffic deaths are pretty rare. The number of tickets issues is pretty wild. They're expensive too! Our tickets are way more expensive than in NYC even though incomes here are much lower.

I am going to rank Rini, then Kinney Zalesne, and then Kenyan - and not rank anyone else. Is this a good strategy if we assume the race is between Kenyan and JLG, but do no want JLG.

I believe Kinney is running for DC delegate, not mayor.

I was skeptical of Janeese but saw her speak in person recently and actually I'm convinced. She was much less naive on certain issues (housing, crime) than I had previously thought, and she's a super smart person.

Patricia Bollinger.
Officer Terry Bennett.
Aaron Marckell Williams.
Mohamed Kamara.
Jonathan Cabrera Mendez.
Torres Velasquez.

The names of just some of the “rare” people who have died at the hands of drivers that you and Kenyan McDuffie believe are being preyed upon on by “traffic tickets and enforcement”.

Go and tell their grieving relatives that their lives didn’t matter. Go and tell their grieving relatives that the drivers that killed them were the ones who were being “preyed upon”. Go and tell their grieving relatives that we should care a lot less about preventing other people from suffering the same fate and a lot more about making sure others drivers don’t have to worry about pesky fines while they race through our city streets.

Let’s take the case of Patricia Bollinger, an elderly resident of Foxhall Village who was struck - in a 25mph zone - with enough force to throw her about a hundred feet down the road. Despite having thousands of dollars in unpaid fines, the driver who killed her had been able to re-register her vehicle, renew her license, and generally go about her business without any fear of suffering any consequences for her unpaid speeding tickets. And the problem, according to you and Kenyan McDuffie, is a lack of enforcement?

Can someone tell McDuffie that I'd also like to not be permanently injured. Thanks.

You should move. It sounds like the big city is not for you. You might get mugged and it sounds like that would be very traumatic for you.

Sweetie, you can't even rely on the D.C. government to plow the streets. Maybe don't get your expectations up too much about what our elected officials can accomplish.

We are being preyed upon. The problem is that as long as VA and MD refuse to really work with us on their drivers, it's going to be hard. Those people with hundreds of tickets and killing people aren't DC drivers.
