It still sounds like you're describing everyone in Congress, not to mention the rest of D.C.

In other words, you are pretending to ignore what I am saying when in reality you are deeply threatened by it.
USAID looks pretty damn corrupt so far. Not corrupt enough to matter to you in your bubble, but it looks pretty corrupt from out here. Good to know you're selective about law and order.

No. No it doesn't. It looks like you are really gullible and a madman drug addict billionaire has conned you. Like in a bad, bad movie.
Musk is NOT looking for fraud. That's the point of this thread, the fraud is gaslighting and the lies he's telling Americans on X.
He told JP Morgan at an event that his GOAL is to eliminate agencies and three quarters of the federal workforce. He's using so-called "fraud" as an excuse for meeting his goal and cut it down to nothing to exert control. He doesn't care if he breaks it all in the process.
He did the same thing at Twitter, he cut out 80% of the employees, particularly the ones that weren't loyal to him in an effort to exert control and look at what's happened to it. X is barely functional and has been losing money since he took it over.
Only young, up and comer programmers will work with Elon because anyone that knows anything or with any real talent will work elsewhere where they're respected and better paid. These are not the cream of the crop, these are the impressionable loyalist.

Agreed MAGA is grasping at straws. They are scared that Trumps action are turning the world against them.

Then let's shut all of government down. No power, no loss.
DP. That reminds me. We did already shut the government down during Covid. We all know how well that went. Why is there so much intent on doing this all over again?

Does it add up to 75%? I doubt even DOGE knows until they conduct a similar audit of every agency, but it is a good enough starting point and is consistent with the results of their USAID audit that found definitively that only 294 positions out of 10,000 (or less then 3% of total staff) were necessary to actualize the goals set and established by Congress.
As an aside, it’s wonderful watching how open and transparent this administration has been compared to decades of hidden agendas, shadowy work practices, and corrupt leadership. As someone who hated Trump during his first term, it’s lovely seeing him growing into a great American leader up there with Reagan, Lincoln, and Washington
Tell me you've never audited anything without telling me you've never audited anything. Their 'audit' of the work conducted by 2k+ USAID employees that they conducted over the course of...less than a week? And where are these results you reference? And by results, I mean the results of audit fieldwork supported by sample-based testing - not Elon's feelings, thoughts, or opinions. I'll wait for you to provide a link.
Again, the Trump presidency has been incredibly open and transparent.
You don’t need years to audit. That is what got us to this point. Review spending and use common sense. Funding genital mutilation in Guatemala is clearly not one of the goals expressly stated in the Foreign Assistance Act, so that program should never have been even started. As an example.
You FOOL. That WH list is not the result of audits. Audit results are NOTHING like that.
That’s an unconfirmed (no proof they are real, see fake Hamas condom story) list of alleged programs, which by the way would have had to be determined and funded by CONGRESS just like all agency programs, that MAGA Republicans think sound wacky enough to make Americans believe USAID was riddled with waste fraud and abuse.
Finding waste fraud and abuse takes experts in forensic accounting to trace multiple financial transaction. Merely listing the names of alleged programs you think sound ridiculous (and agreed, many do) is not a sign of anything nefarious. CONGRESS DECIDES WHAT PROGRAMS ARE FUNDED AT USAID AND EVERY OTHER FEDERAL AGENCY.
I don't need a forensic accountant to tell me that the crap we are funding are bad investments.
Your personal feelings do not equal waste, fraud and abuse. Nor does it actually make the investments crap.
What industry are you in? Maybe Musk can go after that next and we can see if you still think it’s the right way to handle things.
Because guess what? Even if you don’t think you get support from these contracts, your do. Which is why so many farmers are freaking out right now.
I'm in government. So this isn't about my personal feelings at all, as I will likely be out of a job along with you.
Right, I am sure you are.
God you all are tiresome.
Sorry to burst your bubble, but most feds don't live in DC. And feds in red states tend to have red state views. If they close my agency or I get fired, it's not a crisis for me as I will get another job. I do empathize that this has the potential to take down DC, and its real estate market. I hope that isn't the outcome, but that IS what happens to a lot of towns when the major local businesses fail. It's part of life. It sucks, life is rough, but we have no right to ask for total insulation from the jagged edges of life.
So the 42K federal workers in Oklahoma are all fine with this? Is there a plan to create 31k new jobs (75% fired) for them in the state? That is the question.
I started my federal career in DC and spent a decade there. The field offices are indeed very different. Part of what makes it different is that we generally socialize within the community, and there are few feds. That means that we have an awareness of private industry and the network to move into it. I doubt that all feds in red states are okay with this. But the vibe in the office down here is pretty upbeat.
You have got to be a troll. It’s patriotic to lose your job now, so people are positively upbeat to serve their country this way?
They are upbeat. We would make substantially more money in the private sector, and the draw to government has been the work life balance. It's sucks that it is disappearing and the choice will no longer be available. But most people will leave and go on to make at least 100k more per year due to the nature of the work and the salary it commands in the private sector. Lots of feds are in this boat, where they would make more if they left. Maybe you are too, you just haven't realized it yet.
So you’re all so smart but have been underearning for years?! Well yippee you, you can now be a true patriot for losing your job under Trump because you’ll all magically secure better jobs with major $100k raises! 👏👏👏
—Never fed household, but I’m not stupid, so I appreciate the federal workforce and want a thriving society, not to burn it all down
I don't think this will burn it all down. I think this restructuring will reduce tax burden and improve life for most Americans. So we may have joined for the mission, but if there's something that is better for Americans, we should do it.
Some people are willing to take that bet and others aren’t. I guess we’ll see. I predict this will cost us in the end. Though from what you say only Feds in blue states will file wrongful termination suits.
Good luck with your new job. Please let us know about what you’ll do with that extra $100k!
It's happening whether people are willing to take the bet or not. This is just how jobs go- companies sometimes go under, or restructure, or get acquired. It is tough but people will be okay, and I'm sure you'll be okay too. Possibly, you'll be better off.
Again, I don’t work in the government. But I don’t want the market to tank with a skyrocketing unemployment rate. You can’t fake numbers because the market will eventually respond. Crime will go up, after it’s been going down. Lack of abortion means that crime will persistently for 18+ years. I care about the environment and cancer and my neighbors. I’m all for trimming so bloat, but the richest man in the world should was tanked his own companies and is using 19yo to make snap judgments Will cost us more in the end. We’ll have even higher debt.
Typically the unemployment rate isn’t affected by people serving life sentences for defrauding American taxpayers and stealing their hard earned wages, so I certainly wouldn’t expect a massive unemployment spike. It just takes a bit to actually prosecute these federal grifters.
So you think Trump and Elon will go to jail for their crimes against taxpayers? From your lips to God’s ears.
