So you want a race to the bottom? You want Trump to prove he can out "unqualified applicant" the Dems? Is that your point?

I think the point is that democrats have Zero credibility on this issue. You sold out any right to object when you lapped up all the crap Biden served up.

DP. So you want to follow up Biden’s “crap” with Trump’s crap? Different flavor, but crap nevertheless.

Best economy in the world, global respect and leadership particularly with NATO, yes just horrible.

People like you will be BEGGING for what Biden is leaving in a year.

Yeah, it will be interesting to see how it plays out. But I’m ok with it. So he isn’t head of the CIA or a 4 star general…but those guys haven’t done a great job either. Perhaps there is more to qualifying for this position that the traditional credentials. We shall see.

How is this materially different from DEI? What do you think "central casting" means?

Um no. Do you think gay people are inherently unequal because of their sexual preferences.

Pete B. Was the mayor of a city population of 900k people and a municipal budget of 1.6 billion dollars. I think he could handle DOT with a workforce of a little over 56k. It wasn’t Treasury or Defense.

I have no problem with Buttigieg, but it’s a big step from South Bend to US DOT. DOT is 100x the budget and staff of South Bend government. The mayor doesn’t run the entire population of the city, and the DOT serves the population not just the employees.

+1 I was annoyed by Buttigieg's appointment for this reason. It was a reward for doing well in the primaries and a nod to Mayor Pete fans. I think Pete is smart but he was not qualified for that appointment. And now he's "moved" to Michigan so he can run for office there and it's just transparently about the party trying to elevate him to a role from which he can run for President again instead of drawing from the ranks of already qualified people for these roles. It's a problem created by Pete overperforming expectations when he ran and then getting a lot of progressives who like the idea of a youngish, married, veteran, gay guy. They saw him and thought "Gay Obama!" and then tried to reverse engineer his resume to make that work.

This is not shade on Pete himself, but those instincts are VERY bad for the Democratic party and that's why Pete shouldn't have gotten that particular cabinet appointment.

So now that I've said all that I'll say: Pete Hegseth is not qualified to lead the DoD and his appointment is an embarrassment for all involved.

Education/experience
Brinton has a Bachelor of Science in nuclear engineering and vocal music from Kansas State University and a dual Master of Science in nuclear science and engineering and technology policy from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Their research focused on nuclear fuel cycles, including modeling reprocessing centers, reactor construction rates, and spent fuel storage.

Brinton has worked at several think tanks, including Breakthrough Institute, Third Way, Bipartisan Policy Center, and Deep Isolation. They were also the first employee at a nuclear waste start-up company

Obama won elections. Giving speeches is a core role of a politician and all presidents are politicians. You become qualifed to be president by winning an election to be president. That's why Trump gets to be president again despite being a vain, ethically-challenged, despot-in-training. He is qualified in the sense that the people chose him for the role.

Appointed positions are different and we have to have higher standards because the people do NOT get to choose these people democratically.

And yet, he has been a fabulous head of DOT.
