Seriously if someone is causing this much infighting it's not worth it. Not this time.

Let's just go for the easy 2 points folks no sense in shooting airballs trying to look fancy going for a 3

The counter to that is, what if he can deliver PA

I'm still a Walz-head myself, with Kelly my second pick. But I have also come to realize my instincts aren't infallible. If the Very Smart People Who Know More Than I Do think Shapiro is the biggest asset, I take them seriously.

But yeah I do worry about him opening up this painful point of schism in our party, when we're otherwise at a moment of astonishing unity.

There's no guarantee he can deliver PA. He's not as well liked there as many here want to believe.

And if we get PA but loose 3 or 4 other states isn't it worth it

There is no schism. Democrats support Israel. It’s the “democratic socialists” of the squad and Bernie and their fanatical fringe activists who pretend to be base Dems who don’t. Jews are part of the mainstream party base.

Comments on this site aside, the idea that Shapiro causes a schism is akin to saying that Obama caused a schism because some black people vote gop, like Ben Carson.

I am the PP and I am Jewish - and pro-Israel and anti-Netanyahu, so exactly where Shapiro is, myself. And I don't think it's true there is no schism.

Ok, so you’d rather see Trump in office as president than Shapiro in office as VP. Totally tracks

Shapiro is going to be a liability because the frackers finance him. Harris is going to by pass him because of that.

Oh, come on. I think he might possibly lose us Michigan but nobody thinks that it will make much much of a difference in other states, except Pennsylvania. which has more electoral votes..

It’s not a belief that he’s well liked in Pennsylvania, it’s a fact. He has a very high approval rating. My friend from Pennsylvania says she sees his signs out in red country where she never sees Democrats supported. If he can help peel off Republicans who are sick of Trump, all the better!

How quickly the tide has turned on Harris. One day ago everyone was positive. Now it is back to calling everyone antisemitic or pro genocide nazis.

Great pick!

He will lose Dems in Pennsylvania. A lot of stuff is coming out about him. It will make him great for Republicans but repel Democrats.

It’s all where you hang out. the dirtbag progressive left is doing their level best to ruin this as usual, but the rest of the world is still quite positive about her.

And Megan Thee Stallion is on board so I think we’re good lol

+1 it doesn’t matter what the truth is, it will be a nightmare of inflammatory rhetoric.

But getting the far left to show up and vote isn’t really the strategy, this isn’t a primary. Nor do they need to persuade Trump voters. They need to get high propensity suburban voters who are in in 5-6 states, where only one Israel will be a real issue (Michigan). The anti-Israel fanatics aren’t much of a factor in the general election. That’s primary thinking.

Even in Michigan, Harris is already up by more than 4 points. She doesn't automatically lose Michigan if she picks Shapiro. And if Arab-Americans and progressives think Trump and Vance are going to be better allies against Israel, well, I don't know what to say.

+1 And with all the talk about the Arab American voters in Michigan, there are a lot more Jewish voters in Michigan.

Most Arab Americans support Israel in the war against Hamas. Only the low IQ terror-minded Arab Americans support Hamas. We shouldn't be as concerned as we are about losing the Arab American vote just because of a few stupid college kids protesting.

Josh is that you? This is the mentality of the Shapiro voter.

Shapiro wouldn't be my first choice for VP. I'm simply pointing out the fact that we are making a bigger deal out of this Jewish vs Arab vibe in the 2024 election. Most Jews and Arabs living in the US with voting eligibility in 2024 are intelligent, well versed in the history of the ME region, and have a big picture world view that allows them to see this conflict as clearly and objectively as most of the non Jewish and Arab Americans do. It's the very small minority of extremist spreading the obnoxious and divisive rhetoric that makes it seem like a more problematic divide in this country than it really is. I know plenty of Arab people. They want to see Hamas destroyed with as little harm to the non-Hamas supporting Palestinians as possible. I know plenty of Jewish people. They want the same. It's an insult to the intelligence and integrity of American Jews and Arabs to think that a large portion of them aren't capable of seeing this conflict for what it is.

You are a racist who hate arbs and Muslim because of your religious views. Just like Shapiro.

I'm not a religious person myself but I fully support freedoms for people to practice religion of personal choice. If you feel that any single race, culture, or religion is inherently better or worse than all others, perhaps it's you that is racist.

As Vice President Kamala Harris and her campaign team get closer to selecting a running mate, the online left has centered their hostility on one potential candidate: Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro.
The most vehement opposition to Shapiro centers on his unapologetic support for Israel, and his criticisms of extreme anti-Israel student protesters. Some have also cited Shapiro’s support for school choice as a reason, though the governor vetoed funding for a voucher program last year.
A New Republic article called Shapiro “the one vice presidential pick who could ruin Democratic unity.” Shapiro, according to the article, “stands out among the current field of potential running mates as being egregiously bad on Palestine.”
A new online campaign from far-left activists called “No Genocide Josh” argued that Shapiro will get in the way of Harris’ efforts “to gain the trust of working-class, progressive and young voters.” It is in Democrats’ “best interests,” according to a website associated with the campaign, that the nominee “support the majority of Democrats and Americans who want social and economic justice for workers and an immediate ceasefire in Palestine.”

https://jewishinsider.com/2024/07/left-wing-anti-israel-activists-organize-against-josh-shapiro-for-veepstakes/

Shapiro was one of the leaders of the anti protesters movement. His selection will split the party.

There are very few pro-Hamas members of the Democratic Party. Most of those folks either don’t vote or vote green/throw their vote away some other way. Won’t split anything.

Correction: Pro-Palestinian

And they absolutely do vote and their votes actually matter more than ever this year because they are in the Midwest where the president is anctuallt decided and states are won by a 1-2% difference. Hillary lost by 44k-78k votes across three diff. states .

Ilhan and Rashida didn’t get to Congress in the Midwest because their communities according to you don’t vote or vote green.

[/quote

And they’re going to vote for Trump if Shapiro on tix?

I kind of think a ticket with a guy named Shapiro can’t win, but I thought that a guy named Obama couldn’t win either, and I was gloriously wrong. People are better than I sometimes give them credit for

What are you talking about? Obviously I'd be fine with Shapiro. I worry about other people not being fine with him and him exacerbating wedge issues.
