+1 it doesn’t matter what the truth is, it will be a nightmare of inflammatory rhetoric.

But getting the far left to show up and vote isn’t really the strategy, this isn’t a primary. Nor do they need to persuade Trump voters. They need to get high propensity suburban voters who are in in 5-6 states, where only one Israel will be a real issue (Michigan). The anti-Israel fanatics aren’t much of a factor in the general election. That’s primary thinking.

Even in Michigan, Harris is already up by more than 4 points. She doesn't automatically lose Michigan if she picks Shapiro. And if Arab-Americans and progressives think Trump and Vance are going to be better allies against Israel, well, I don't know what to say.

+1 And with all the talk about the Arab American voters in Michigan, there are a lot more Jewish voters in Michigan.

Most Arab Americans support Israel in the war against Hamas. Only the low IQ terror-minded Arab Americans support Hamas. We shouldn't be as concerned as we are about losing the Arab American vote just because of a few stupid college kids protesting.

Josh is that you? This is the mentality of the Shapiro voter.

Shapiro wouldn't be my first choice for VP. I'm simply pointing out the fact that we are making a bigger deal out of this Jewish vs Arab vibe in the 2024 election. Most Jews and Arabs living in the US with voting eligibility in 2024 are intelligent, well versed in the history of the ME region, and have a big picture world view that allows them to see this conflict as clearly and objectively as most of the non Jewish and Arab Americans do. It's the very small minority of extremist spreading the obnoxious and divisive rhetoric that makes it seem like a more problematic divide in this country than it really is. I know plenty of Arab people. They want to see Hamas destroyed with as little harm to the non-Hamas supporting Palestinians as possible. I know plenty of Jewish people. They want the same. It's an insult to the intelligence and integrity of American Jews and Arabs to think that a large portion of them aren't capable of seeing this conflict for what it is.

You are a racist who hate arbs and Muslim because of your religious views. Just like Shapiro.

lol you have no clue. The left is the Democratic Party. Biden’s poll number crashed when he hugged Netanyahu and have continued to tank as Israel has emasculated him. Biden and Harris also screwed over the progressive at every opportunity. Progressive, younger voters and independent will stay home. The race is very close a drop of 1/2 a percentage can lose this. Michigan is gone. Shapiro loses you all of the swing state but Pennsylvania. It will be impossible to win with Shapiro.

Shapiro is Republican hardcore AIPAC pick. I am surprised Trump did not pick him. The numbers for Israel are horrendous with Dems and independents. Biden and Harris are deploying troops to fight for Israel right now in what will be a very long and costly war.

Picking a vocal pro Israel racist is the highest level of stupidity. Still the pro Israelis interests continue to push his guy down everyone’s throat because they want him in the White House.

What on earth are you smoking? lol “Republican hard-core AIPAC pick”. Lots of wishcraft going on here.

Pennsylvania loves Shapiro because he knows how to talk to both sides of the aisle. That doesn’t make him Republican, that makes him a grown-up. Our country could use some of that.

And anyone with three brain cells will realize that Trump will be even more supportive of Israel, so we will only be losing the “fewer than three brain cells” vote.

Wow your insults make such a compelling argument! Did you learn that at Trump’s University? Shapiro has a pretty clear record. Every time Shapiro has had choice between Israel or the US or the Constitution, he has chosen Israel. Every time he has had a choice between Dems or Republicans he picks the Republicans. Why vote for a Republican lite ticket when you can have the real thing? It is people like you who have made sure Trump will win again. Be proud in November and keep shouting those insults!

Also how dumb do you have to be to think Trump will be worse vs Biden(and now Harris who has shown her true colors). There is no difference between a Trump, Biden or Harris presidency in term of Israel and Palestinians. What’s Trump going to do that is worse vs what Biden/Harris has already done? Is Trump going to bomb the rubble in Gaza, starve more children, stop the annexation of the West Bank, supply some more bombs to blow up the 40,000 bodies on the ground, stop the 12,000 new settlements in the West Bank, not give the Saudis nuclear weapons, etc? No Trump will continues the Biden policies.

Harris with Shapiro will arrest anyone who dares criticize Israel. This is what Shapiro has publicly said. Looks like it will be a fun convention. Has the feel of ‘68 all over again! Establishment types like yourself directing the cops to go beat some heads in to support your ticket.

You’re insane and I’m glad no major party is actively trying to court your vote

The counter to that is, what if he can deliver PA

I'm still a Walz-head myself, with Kelly my second pick. But I have also come to realize my instincts aren't infallible. If the Very Smart People Who Know More Than I Do think Shapiro is the biggest asset, I take them seriously.

But yeah I do worry about him opening up this painful point of schism in our party, when we're otherwise at a moment of astonishing unity.

What is worst saying you were an IDF soldier fighting the Palestinians or lying about it? It is just so wrong on so many levels. Now add in the racist stuff and old josh should just be the top of the ticket because it is going to be all about him for the next two months

This is the stupidest pick ever but when have the Democrats been smart? I the guess it is more important to pick up the settler vote?

Looks like there will be protest in and outside of the convention.

There is no schism. Democrats support Israel. It’s the “democratic socialists” of the squad and Bernie and their fanatical fringe activists who pretend to be base Dems who don’t. Jews are part of the mainstream party base.

Comments on this site aside, the idea that Shapiro causes a schism is akin to saying that Obama caused a schism because some black people vote gop, like Ben Carson.

These same smart people who have been running 5-7 points behind Trump. Trump who outlaw abortion, planned a coup, is a white supremacist, took money from foreign countries for policy changes, a convicted felon, convicted rapist, etc.

Unfortunately a large portion of the country supports outlawing abortion, white supremacy, and an alt-right coup to overthrow “tyranny”. People really need to recognize that Trump supporters don’t just need to “wake up” to the agenda. They consciously support the agenda… for every single last Trump supporter this is the point. They just don’t openly admit it.

Thank God idiots like you are only a loud minority. Harris should pick Shapiro to shut this nonsense down.

Believe it or not, not everyone is either a democrat or republicans. Whereas Trump has actively courted the fringe, the democrats have, more often than not, had to navigate around them.

The percentage of Arab American who support Israel approaches 0%. And the vast majority loathes Hamas. But close to 100% support the Palestinian people, especially at this time those being bombed and starved to death in Gaza.

Your assumption that Arab Americans are too dumb and hate filled to support the Israeli people after the Hamas terror attack last year is a very poor assumption. The obnoxious extremist with the loudest voices are what you hear but they are the minority. No one is happy with the sloppy war waged by the Israeli Government and IDF that has caused the deaths of many innocent people but most of us are capable of separating our disdain for horrible governments from how we feel about the private citizens of a country. You'd be amazed at how warm and friendly the majority of people in China, Russia, and Iran are.

DP who agrees with you. However, this election is going to be won on the margins. A few thousand people staying home or voting for Trump could swing the election. IMO, it is not worth the risk. Shapiro can be an effective surrogate in Pennsylvania without being on the ticket (as can any of the folks under consideration).

If she picks Shapiro it will be because she has seen the numbers and thinks that he will help her in Pennsylvania, which has an over 30% chance of being the tipping point state. I’m sure she’s aware that it will hurt her with the anti-Israel wing of the party, and will factor that in.

It is worth noting that Shapiro’s popularity in Pennsylvania has nothing to do with his Judaism or Zionism. It’s because he knows how to talk with people who are politically different than he is. Of course, to some people that taints hi and makes him indistinguishable from Donald Trump, because it’s not about getting things done, it’s about tribal affiliation.

Ok, so you’d rather see Trump in office as president than Shapiro in office as VP. Totally tracks
