Oh FFS. Harris is not running for President of Palestine. Americans aren’t going to choose their president by how cozy she is with Palestinians. Most people with brains are aware that the history is long, complex, and full of questionable decisions and some really bad behavior on both sides.

Only a fringe will choose based on Palestine’s best interest, because it is a foreign country and not our problem to solve.

You have a seriously distorted image of how much most Americans care about this issue.

+1 so sick of extremism anywhere on any side.

It's not extremism to be horrified by your country's support of ethnic cleansing. The fact that you see that idea as fringe tells you how warped your thinking has become over generations of brainwashing and lies.

Agree. This is a fraught issue, with strong feelings on both sides. Too divisive and distracting for a vp prospect.

Seriously if someone is causing this much infighting it's not worth it. Not this time.

Let's just go for the easy 2 points folks no sense in shooting airballs trying to look fancy going for a 3

The counter to that is, what if he can deliver PA

I'm still a Walz-head myself, with Kelly my second pick. But I have also come to realize my instincts aren't infallible. If the Very Smart People Who Know More Than I Do think Shapiro is the biggest asset, I take them seriously.

But yeah I do worry about him opening up this painful point of schism in our party, when we're otherwise at a moment of astonishing unity.

There's no guarantee he can deliver PA. He's not as well liked there as many here want to believe.

And if we get PA but loose 3 or 4 other states isn't it worth it

Oh, come on. I think he might possibly lose us Michigan but nobody thinks that it will make much much of a difference in other states, except Pennsylvania. which has more electoral votes..

It’s not a belief that he’s well liked in Pennsylvania, it’s a fact. He has a very high approval rating. My friend from Pennsylvania says she sees his signs out in red country where she never sees Democrats supported. If he can help peel off Republicans who are sick of Trump, all the better!

Both PA and MI are MUST wins.

Nj is as much a swing state as PA at this point and Mark Kelly is a NJ native, son of two retired police officers, NASA astronaut, and former military (the U.S. military not Israel’s)

Shapiro may promise PA and Florida and possibly NJ but he is a gamble for the Midwest and Arizona plus his tweet that trans women are women will set people off along with the surveillance stuff.

Kelly doesn’t have that much baggage

Shapiro is not relevant at all in Florida. This is not the 1970’s or 1980’s. The population growth in Florida has resulted in Jew making up just 3.1% of the population and 40% voted for Trump last time. Florida is bright red.

Cubans destroyed Florida for the Dems. I will never forget their anger at Obama for taking their country off the embargo list even though some admitted it would help them go back to one day visit family. Strangest electorate bunch ever.

They also hate migrants without irony even though they were the original Latin illegal migrant group here. Trump just played their boy Rubio and was racist toward Ted Cruz saying his Cuban dad was a illegal Cuban alien who shot JFK (Trump really said this) and Ted’s wife was ugly

They are indeed a bit strange. Won’t agree to the embargo end unless their property is returned? What’s weird they have young people who are aggressively anti modern Cuba.
I have a Zionist acquaintance on fb whose son just married a staunch Cuban embargo supporter. They’ll make a fine couple I am sure.

Aside from Middle East politics, I just don’t think the ticket needs two Attorney Generals. The goal should be a balanced ticket. No need to double down on that. I also think a more positive, inspirational and aspirational tone would be a great antidote to Trump/Vance who come across as such dour princes of darkness. So the fact that Kelly doesn’t live the pit bull role is fine imo. He’d do it well enough when necessary. Walz’s call to bring a little joy back into politics is also nice.

Extremism is thinking there is one “good” side on this issue and if you think otherwise, you’re the one brainwashed by online foreign trolls trying to polarize us. Like most thinking people without an agenda, I realize both Hamas and Israel are doing awful, violent, and illegal things and innocent people in both Gaza and Israel are suffering. War is hell.

Basing your vote entirely on Palestine is feeding right into the hands of Hamas, actually. They think your gullibility is fabulous. We have a whole country to run here at home and it needs a LOT of attention.

Fetterman has concerns about Shapiro for VP, aides tell Harris’ team
The conversations reveal the intensity of the scrutiny surrounding her selection of a running mate
PHILADELPHIA — Pennsylvania Sen. John Fetterman is concerned about the possibility that Vice President Kamala Harris might choose his state’s governor, Josh Shapiro, as her running mate, and his advisers have privately relayed those worries to Harris’ team, according to three people familiar with the conversations.

Right. You’re not brainwashed by Iranian misinformation and distortions by left wing propagandists. It’s everyone else that’s crazy.

Oh, you sweet summer child. Two people can argue on DCUM for 20 pages and it‘s still two people. People like to argue on the internet, news at 6. Posts aren’t votes.

It’s 1% of people’s top issue. Literally. People aren’t going to choose the American president by who’s best for Palestine - and nor should they!

https://news.gallup.com/poll/1675/most-important-problem.aspx

Actually, it’s less than 1% because that 1% includes pro-Israel people…

Yes if Harris came out and picked AOC as VP while saying the US will no longer support Israel. It would not matter. The Israel vote is just too small to matter. The Jewish vote is not going anywhere.

So Jews themselves are anti semitic if they don’t love Josh?

What? Fellow moderate Fetterman is not talking about policy disagreements but about Shapiro’s careerism and what he sees as calculated vs. ethical decision making. Kamala couldn’t trust him, he’d always be positioning his future presidential run over her positions and priorities. I’m sure her team knows this.

Do you see why that unhinged behavior above by PP is not what we need? Shapiro acts the same way.

Is he going to put every American who criticized the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and Israel’s handling of the war in jail?

That’s what they’re doing now in Israel to Israelis.

We don’t want our free speech squashed.
