Why are Christians insisting the opening ceremony depicted The Last Supper when it really was the Feast of Dyonisus?

The men of Ancient Greece “paraded around” as women. Nothing new here.

20 years ago, no one would have assumed that a man acting in women’s clothing was a “drag queen.” That’s been happening as long as humans have been performing. Fox viewers are so ignorant and impressionable, they have no idea they’re being manipulated.

It's not "drag" if a white conservative man does it!

Going forward, they really should only allow the Olympics in countries with such laws.

Got it. So you hate freedom and America?

I'm not PP but this happening (and I am not saying it's right either) wouldn't surprise me because it was taken a step too far. Take religion out of the equation - it's not about religion per se - it's about pushing the envelope too far.

I saw someone post why don't Christians go back and live their own lives quietly. Well, I say the same thing about LGBTQ and drag queens -- why the need to put on a globally televised show that is quite clearly all about LGBTQ and drag queens (which is perfectly fine to do - it's just the Olympic opening ceremony was not the appropriate venue)? Why don't they go back and live their own lives quietly? Right or wrong, for every action, there will always be a reaction -- the more extreme the action, the more extreme the reaction.

If the only thing you saw in the Olympic opening ceremony was "LGBTQ and drag queens," then you weren't watching very closely or for very long. Yes, they cut back and forth to the Feast of Dionysus, but there was so much more going on, including just watching the parade of athletes come by. The French are going to be French, and that includes fashion shows and outré performance art, but that one scene has only become the focal point because a handful of American religious fundamentalists didn't have the cultural education to understand that not all people sitting at a table are Jesus and the disciples.

So many of you posters are so "weird" and defensive when it comes to defending drag queens aka men dressed in woman face. The whole performance was tacky and out of place. If drag queens want to perform at a nightclub then have at it but this was not the place for it.

PP here—well, I can say they are pushing the agenda while, honestly, I love Bridgerton, Grey's Anatomy, 9-1-1, etc.

Pushing the agenda is about normalizing it. And this has become totally a polarizing issue here because of schools and the need to push it on children. And that's the trigger point.

Extreme Action - pushing pronoun idiocy and gender dysphoria talks to young children in public schools. (Middle School and HS OK, but not ES -- all children should go through puberty before making any life-altering medical decisions unless parental sign-off)
Extreme Reaction - put the 10 commandments/Bible study in public schools. (which is wrong - separation of church and state - BUT removing the Pledge of Allegiance is also 100% wrong)

Yes, we all know bigots think acknowledging pronouns is “extreme”.

All this pronoun stuff is "weird" as you dorks like to say these days. Outside of your "weird" liberal bubble people are getting tired of this crap getting pushed down our throats.

Yes, we all know bigots think that acknowledging pronouns is “pushing it down your throat”.

This Is The Army was a 1943 movie about a traveling drag show that raised money to support the war effort. Ronald Reagan was the star.

Weird that you are so laser focused on that one portion of the whole ceremony.

Outside of your "weird" liberal bubble no one cares if they are called bigots because your stupid words don't mean anything anymore. People have had enough of the constant LGBQT mostly "T" propaganda. Even gay people are getting sick of it.

But it isn't out of place in french culture.

Again, people keep assuming conservatives have a problem with this. religious democrats exist too you know.

I see November is going to a shock to many. The Dem exit is going to be keep growing the farther the far left goes worldwide

Progressives are bad at reading the room: tunnel vision.

They can’t accept the majority of the country is a bit more conservative including Democrats.

As you can see, everyone keeps assuming anyone with a religious objection is a Fox News watching Republican.

In 2008, Obama ran as an anti gay marriage candidate because Prop 8 was passed in deep blue state California.

I think people forget that we aren’t as left wing as France and children are always a red line in America

Defund the Police is also something that would probably run with more support in France And their cops aren’t armed or kill people as much as in the US but they are still more likely to support defunding the cops.

America is naturally a more conservative place but progressives are too snobby and self involved to see that and risk losing the gains for everybody by poking at the largest religion/dominant society in the US

A lot now think the right wingers are crazy and have gone too far. Gone are the moderates. Only the crazies have power now.

They want to push Christians into the closet

I'm a more mainline democrat. Also pushing 55 and Boy George and Ru Paul were part of my formative years. And Prince!! The terms may not have existed to the same extent - gender fluid, drag queen, non binary. Nobody seemed to care back then. people were so much more accepting (not perfectly, or everyone, I know). Why is everyone so triggered now? What happened to the freedom to be who we want to be, particularly when it does NOT hurt a soul?
