Why are Christians insisting the opening ceremony depicted The Last Supper when it really was the Feast of Dyonisus?

Progressives are bad at reading the room: tunnel vision.

They can’t accept the majority of the country is a bit more conservative including Democrats.

As you can see, everyone keeps assuming anyone with a religious objection is a Fox News watching Republican.

In 2008, Obama ran as an anti gay marriage candidate because Prop 8 was passed in deep blue state California.

I think people forget that we aren’t as left wing as France and children are always a red line in America

Did something bad happen to a child during the Olympics opening ceremony? Or is this more projection to avoid talking about Trump ogling naked teenagers backstage at his pageants?

Going forward, they really should only allow the Olympics in countries with such laws.

Got it. So you hate freedom and America?

I'm not PP but this happening (and I am not saying it's right either) wouldn't surprise me because it was taken a step too far. Take religion out of the equation - it's not about religion per se - it's about pushing the envelope too far.

I saw someone post why don't Christians go back and live their own lives quietly. Well, I say the same thing about LGBTQ and drag queens -- why the need to put on a globally televised show that is quite clearly all about LGBTQ and drag queens (which is perfectly fine to do - it's just the Olympic opening ceremony was not the appropriate venue)? Why don't they go back and live their own lives quietly? Right or wrong, for every action, there will always be a reaction -- the more extreme the action, the more extreme the reaction.

They want to push Christians into the closet

This kind of whining is not Christian. Politely, you should get some help.

A lot now think the right wingers are crazy and have gone too far. Gone are the moderates. Only the crazies have power now.
Time to clean house

The right wing are reactionary. Always have been. Unfortunately, the rise of Christian nationalism is inevitable in my opinion and it’s all due to things like
This Olympics scandal. It’s sadly the perfect bait for Christians to say their identity, and faith/beliefs are “under attack” and they will respond by persecuting the community they see responsible for it.

Before it, it was the Muslims and sharia law they saw as enemy number 1. Now, they’ve decreased down the list I suppose and the LGBTQ community (mainly due to the T’s fault, a group even LGB’s resent and roll their eyes at) will potentially push all the gains that LGB’s fought so hard for to the wayside

It’s typical of conservatives to get all verklempt over one racy scene out of 4 hour ceremony but say not a single word about the violent bloody scene of a guillotined queen. Weird. Your priorities are weird.

The terms may not have existed to the same extent - gender fluid, drag queen, non binary. Nobody seemed to care back then. people were so much more accepting (not perfectly, or everyone, I know). Why is everyone so triggered now? What happened to the freedom to be who we want to be, particularly when it does NOT hurt a soul?

Religious wackos.

Republican bigots.

Nothing bad happened but “they want the children” is a huge baiting call that religious right have always used. Lately, a big meme on Facebook I saw in June with right wingers was the pride month combined as pridemonth with the meme saying you can’t spell demon without it.

If the LGBT community wanted to come out with the absolute worst optics and right wing activating, stereotype-laden scene they could design, The Olympics was exactly that.

Whether it was intentional or not, it was a risky move especially for what it bodes for us as a nation in an election year.

If the right wing pendulum swings in government, we can blame things like this from overzealous stage designers. Mocking Jesus and a New Gay Testament Is only funny to some progressives but they aren’t the majority

PP here—well, I can say they are pushing the agenda while, honestly, I love Bridgerton, Grey's Anatomy, 9-1-1, etc.

Pushing the agenda is about normalizing it. And this has become totally a polarizing issue here because of schools and the need to push it on children. And that's the trigger point.

Extreme Action - pushing pronoun idiocy and gender dysphoria talks to young children in public schools. (Middle School and HS OK, but not ES -- all children should go through puberty before making any life-altering medical decisions unless parental sign-off)
Extreme Reaction - put the 10 commandments/Bible study in public schools. (which is wrong - separation of church and state - BUT removing the Pledge of Allegiance is also 100% wrong)

Yes, we all know bigots think acknowledging pronouns is “extreme”.

All this pronoun stuff is "weird" as you dorks like to say these days. Outside of your "weird" liberal bubble people are getting tired of this crap getting pushed down our throats.

Yes, we all know bigots think that acknowledging pronouns is “pushing it down your throat”.

Outside of your "weird" liberal bubble no one cares if they are called bigots because your stupid words don't mean anything anymore. People have had enough of the constant LGBQT mostly "T" propaganda. Even gay people are getting sick of it.

You go, girl bigot. Be proud and loud.

Once again, this is an international event that is not centered around America. You and the rest of the people feigning outrage about this are insignificant and represent a sliver of a population and audience watching.

If you want to talk about badly reading a room, conversatives and MAGA consistently fail because they can't see anything that goes beyond their limited view of the world.

There were people upset about that too as children were watching and a bloody decapitated head makes no sense. France is the country where you can watch topless people kissing and practically watch soft porn on cable television during prime time daytime TV so obviously this cultural gap is also something people have to keep in mind

So, your theory is that the FRENCH Olympic Opening Ceremonies were secretly designed by queers from the United States?

I think you’re the ones that’s Clueless and a navel gazing liberal.

It has everything to do with election season. Most of the right wing Christians famously don’t even vote. Trump was just talking to them last week during his infamous “you won’t have to vote anymore, we’ll fix everything, the other side hates you” speech.

If one wanted the best catnip they could find to motivate the religious right, a worldwide patriotic and family friendly event like the Olympics mocking Christianity and Jesus in front of the world was exactly it

It doesn’t matter where they’re from. The point is Jesus was mocked and Christians will blame the far left’s agenda and LGBTQ in general for this
