Why are Christians insisting the opening ceremony depicted The Last Supper when it really was the Feast of Dyonisus?

Got it. So you hate freedom and America?

I'm not PP but this happening (and I am not saying it's right either) wouldn't surprise me because it was taken a step too far. Take religion out of the equation - it's not about religion per se - it's about pushing the envelope too far.

I saw someone post why don't Christians go back and live their own lives quietly. Well, I say the same thing about LGBTQ and drag queens -- why the need to put on a globally televised show that is quite clearly all about LGBTQ and drag queens (which is perfectly fine to do - it's just the Olympic opening ceremony was not the appropriate venue)? Why don't they go back and live their own lives quietly? Right or wrong, for every action, there will always be a reaction -- the more extreme the action, the more extreme the reaction.

They want to push Christians into the closet

We are already there. The irony.

Progressives are bad at reading the room: tunnel vision.

They can’t accept the majority of the country is a bit more conservative including Democrats.

As you can see, everyone keeps assuming anyone with a religious objection is a Fox News watching Republican.

In 2008, Obama ran as an anti gay marriage candidate because Prop 8 was passed in deep blue state California.

I think people forget that we aren’t as left wing as France and children are always a red line in America

Did something bad happen to a child during the Olympics opening ceremony? Or is this more projection to avoid talking about Trump ogling naked teenagers backstage at his pageants?

Nothing bad happened but “they want the children” is a huge baiting call that religious right have always used. Lately, a big meme on Facebook I saw in June with right wingers was the pride month combined as pridemonth with the meme saying you can’t spell demon without it.

If the LGBT community wanted to come out with the absolute worst optics and right wing activating, stereotype-laden scene they could design, The Olympics was exactly that.

Whether it was intentional or not, it was a risky move especially for what it bodes for us as a nation in an election year.

If the right wing pendulum swings in government, we can blame things like this from overzealous stage designers. Mocking Jesus and a New Gay Testament Is only funny to some progressives but they aren’t the majority
Of the US

So, your theory is that the FRENCH Olympic Opening Ceremonies were secretly designed by queers from the United States?

It doesn’t matter where they’re from. The point is Jesus was mocked and Christians will blame the far left’s agenda and LGBTQ in general for this

Jesus wasn’t mocked you goofball.

How did we get to the point that the GOP lionizes Vladimir Putin of all people? Ronald Reagan and John McCain must be rolling in their graves.

Look, I have some baseline faith in my fellow Americans, my neighbors who may not agree with me politically but who are fundamentally decent people. I don't think they are pro-Putin and I don't think they want to follow Russia's lead and detain/torture LGBTQ people. I think Americans are better than that, with the exception of the GOP elite.

Oh yes, that's the only reason people hate Putin

I can see you would be ready to embrace him is only keeps those nasty gays away from you. Amazing what a large segment of the population have turned into sheep. Make them feel threatened and they certainly don't need democracy anymore.

It would probably be best going forward to just stick with the actual theme of the Olympics, which, of course, is sports. Rather than hire an eccentric artist to shock the world, just parade the athletes down the boulevard, invite a world renown performer like Celine Dion (good job there) and give away a million branded basketballs or tennis rackets and call it a day. Who cares who is gay or straight or transgender or thinks they’re a dolphin, keep the focus on sports. Sports. That’s it. Everyone’s happy. Money is spent well.

Again, people keep assuming conservatives have a problem with this. religious democrats exist too you know.

I see November is going to a shock to many. The Dem exit is going to be keep growing the farther the far left goes worldwide

This anti-drag thing is new. Don’t put it on religion, which is not new.

Why is it easy pickings to pick on Christians and what do you think Christians will do once they realize their religion is under attack by the mainstream? Liberals literally want drama and call for it. It’s like they want to lose elections and get a hard Christian right winger government. For the love of God, leave well enough alone as a progressive.

You’re pushing a boundary when mocking one of the biggest religions on Earth let alone two of them.

What was the reason?

Christians are a political party.

You keep saying this but it’s dumb. There are Christians in all of our political parties. Most are normal people.

Why not? Because you don’t like their art form? Who made you the boss of French artistic expression?

It’s typical of conservatives to get all verklempt over one racy scene out of 4 hour ceremony but say not a single word about the violent bloody scene of a guillotined queen. Weird. Your priorities are weird.

The headless people were described as satanic as well. It just got lost in the shuffle.

Thinking about this more, it seems this opening ceremony was a direct consequence of regicide. You can't celebrate a crime like that without eventually celebrating other evils.

The ones using their religion to define their political agenda and oppress others are the issue.
