I don't believe it's causing nearly as many problems as you think it is. But if that's your narrative...

The schools, please look at the schools...some are literally no go zones for families.

(sigh) all right. Please tell us why schools are so bad.

Simple - large numbers of non-English speaking students are overwhelming schools. It is costing a huge amount in taxes to educate these students and takes time and focus away from other students. English speakers (typically citizens) are avoiding a number of the high schools in FCPS.

Justice High School - 41% ESL
Falls Church High School - 37.5% ESL
Lewis High School - 37.5% ESL
Annandale High School - 35.5% ESL
Herndon High School - 31.5% ESL
Mt. Vernon High School - 25% ESL
West Potomac High School - 21% ESL
Edison High School - 18% ESL

To many people these schools are dead in the water because they have to spend so much time on ESL students and the chances of having advanced classes are diminished.

Oh please. The only one I know well is West Po, but as a percentage of classes offered, it has significantly more advanced and honors classes than it did 20 years ago when the percentage of ESL was lower. In real dollars, the median income per family has increased, too. The addition of esl resources is not detracting from anything for a high achieving student there.

Republicans are so desperate to salvage November that they will try to portray Democrats as racists over this one sign.

Republicans have nothing but lies and gaslighting.

Hardly “this one sign.” Try: over a hundred-year history of democrats supporting segregation, racism, white supremacy, violation of The Civil Rights Act, etc.

Right up to today.

Thanks for proving my point.

Republicans are dishonest POSs.

I don't disagree that Republicans are dishonest, but this assertion by PP:

Try: over a hundred-year history of democrats supporting segregation, racism, white supremacy, violation of The Civil Rights Act, etc.

is factual.

Democrats don't like it, but that doesn't change its veracity.

Correction: They like it. They just don't like it when someone points it out.

And the Confederates lost the Civil War.

Democrats have evolved they now feed children instead of sexually abusing them and not feeding or educating them.

Republicans, on the other hand, became the KKK, anti-Semites, white supremacists, white replacement theory, and basically sex abusers of children. They are liars like Mike Johnson, who makes millions a year but has "no bank accounts," and Jim Jordan, who has done nothing in the 14 years he has been elected. Or Bobo or MTG really Republicans woke up in the morning and thought to themselves it was their genius they wanted in Congress. Again Republicans are morons they don't think for themselves. FOX paid $786 million because they know Republicans are dumb. Newsmax paid $60 million.

Republicans are idiots; they never look at the voting records of the people they vote for. That says Republicans are inherently stupid.

Sears has no platform but screaming about Trans or drag queens and that she will support Trump a dictator.

If you vote for her you are anti-American and really stupid. Go on vote for the people that can not do math and tell you prices are going down 1500% 1400%

Honest question- how would anyone know the immigration status of these kids?

We like our school, but this is true, as of last year they were dealing with multiple new ESL kids coming in every day. This year my kid didn't get all of the desired advanced classes because there were not enough students signing up for them.

Last year our school hosted family seminars on how to avoid ICE, I'm taking that as a sign about the immigration status of the new students that were coming in.

Given the fact that the F/R lunch rate at West Potomac was 30% in 2005 and is now 42%, I think we can say that the school has definitely become poorer. And the cause of that is not manifestation of home grown poverty, but the importing of poverty primarily from Central America.

Have they built more subsidized housing since 2005? That can also affect the rate.

It’s telling that Youngkin and Trump aren’t lending support to Sears.

It absolutely is, especially this late in the game. Sometimes the silence speaks louder than words.

Youngkin has. I'd expect that the campaign is polling the impact of a Trump endorsement on undecided voters

Completely irrelevant to the DNC of 2025. Anyone trying to link the two is a dishonest POS.

Those percentages are highly concerning.

The percentages largely explain why FCPS has a constant budget crisis (though FCPS consistently fails to explain the causes of their financial crisis).

Move to Arkansas and remind yourself why schools are "bad"

Republicans have been underfunding public schools for decades. It’s how they’ve been fighting desegregation.

Check out how much Baltimore spends per student. It's not how much is spent but how the funds are spent.
