All of you talk about you know how a School Board is run. From our sofas, it must be nice to give all of this judgement. I imagine that being a school board member must be the worst job ever. You have to be the expert at the system and all of its roles, engage with the community and attend required meetings weekly, sometimes several back to back. Not to mention being paid pennies while trying to hold down a day job. I don't think any of them at the moment are retired.

I don't think David or Cristina were great representatives to the public, but I'm not going to judge them on what they did for APS. Bethany either. Any time I engaged with her, she seemed very forthcoming and honest about what she could and could not do.

Monday wasn't their finest hour. I just hope that Mary and the rest can move on from it. We should too.

"Francisco" should keep his mouth shut. He works for HER. SHE is part of the team that hires him/renews his contract. If the superintendent is chiding a school board member, that only reinforces the problem is the unwritten rule that all board members must align with what the superintendent says and Mary's "fault" is that she asks questions and doesn't follow lock-step. Quite bold for Duran to make negative comments about or insinuations targeting any board member. He needs to go.

I agree. These accusations are out of control. He focused on the APS accomplishments and said there’s more to do until we get to 100%.

Also agree. The negativity from Bethany was limited to stating that it was a difficult decision. That really was unnecessary. Just throwing a bone to her two dissenting colleagues. I guess they'll forgive her for not voting in lock-step.

I just watched it. Bethany had an undertone to her opening remarks; but I didn't hear any insinuations from Duran.
People are making way more out of this than there is. CDT and DP just don't like how Mary has performed her role. They should read their own comments and consider applying them to themselves. It was really distasteful, to say the least.

Dr Duran and the end of his speech did say something about "staying the course". I think he repeated himself twice. I didn't think twice about it at the time, but now I can see how people can interpret it to target Mary, asking her not to rock the boat. Particularly around the CIP decision.

CDT is just awful all around. I can't stand to hear her blabber and am so glad she's leaving. DP is just such a little puppy dog. Thanking her for having everything in order so he didn't miss a beat while she was on maternity leave? Ugh...of course she did. He wouldn't have had a clue what to do without her. Why do you think he's not running for re-election? Because she isn't and won't be there to tell him what to do and say.

Of course he works for the board, not just her. But the rest of the board believes they are there to support whatever he does and decides. Mary is the only one acting like Duran works for them and not vice versa.

I just watched the meeting too. It's so weird how mean everyone is to Mary. I remember Barbara castigating her when she first joined the board. And now CDT and DP.

I'm did not see the bitterness from BZS and Duran, but if you say it was there, I believe you.
