Do you conduct a lot of polls on Twitter and think they apply to the population at large?

I don't, but the followers of "REALTIMENEWS" sure do

I don't even understand this comment. The guy literally reposts the police scanner. That ish is happening in the city, whether you want to acknowledge it or not.

People taking the poll of his Twitter followers as a scientific sample.

The crime tracking Twitter accounts are a tough call for me. I personally had to unfollow them because I do think when you follow them you get the impression that crime is really bad all the time, because it's all the tweet, and also they will tweet like 12 times for the same event, tweet in all caps, and tweet crimes happening all over the region (not just in Ward 6). I recognized that being exposed to that all the time was bad for my mental health and not actually helping to keep me safe, so I unfollowed.

However, I am grateful for those accounts because when something happens (like when I hear a bunch of gunshots outside my home, or see crime scene tape blocking off a block, etc.) I will go look at those accounts and often they have the relevant details I need. That's a public service and it's not one being performed by anyone in DC government -- before those accounts were around, it was often hard to get information on these events even when you were looking. If you were lucky, a local TV reporter or account would pick it up. But otherwise you'd be in dark a lot.

So I think there are some negatives to these accounts and would recommend against following them closely because it's just too much. BUT the people complaining that the concern about crime is entirely the fault of these Twitter accounts are crazy. Those accounts couldn't report on these crimes if they weren't happening. They certainly aren't causing it. Getting mad at RTN or Alan Henney or any of these guys is really misguided.

I mean, that’s probably preferable to people misrepresenting the WaPo poll, claiming that because people feel “somewhat safe” there is no crime issue.

The only thing that tells you is that some people complain about him a TON. I never see a pro-Allen post on here and I never hear a pro-Allen statement come out of someone's mouth in person.

The worse crime gets, the more vulnerable that seat is. People are all about progressive values until they're worried a bullet is going to come through their window. Allen needs to get a clue.

You don't hear from pro-Allen supporters because they're actually pretty happy with him.

For example, Allen enjoys a 100% rating from key interest groups like the Youth Burglary Council and the Public Defecation League. He also was endorsed by major corporate donors like White Guilt Inc.

And that doesn't even include his other traditional constituents like the Revolving Door Alliance and Joyriders Local 2208, who at first had wanted to come out for him if it had not been for Congress vetoing his crime legalization bill.

Allen has no friends left on the Hill. Most Dems despise him or now even hate him, let’s see about the Reps.

Nadeau distancing herself from Allen. He’s toxic.

Neighbors, make sure you congratulate Allen on everything he’s done for us.

House Republicans intend to hold a hearing this month to dig into D.C. city management — especially targeting the issues of crime and public safety, Rep. James Comer (R-Ky.), the chairman of the House Oversight Committee, said Wednesday.
Comer invited city officials to a hearing scheduled for March 29 and said the hearing would cover issues such as crime and homelessness. The offices of D.C. Council Chairman Phil Mendelson (D) and council member Charles Allen (D-Ward 6) said they received invitations, and Comer said he has also invited the city’s chief financial officer and the head of the D.C. Police Union.
“Congress has sent a clear message to the D.C. Council: it’s time to make our nation’s capital safe again,” Comer said in a statement to The Washington Post. “All Americans should feel safe in their capital city, but radical left-wing policies have led to a crime crisis and rampant homelessness. As the committee with jurisdiction over the District of Columbia, the Oversight Committee has a constitutional responsibility to conduct oversight of the policies that have plagued our capital city.”

There’s a hope the Chinese CP members will vote for him under the new voting law

Oh great, one bunch of clowns clashing with another bunch of clowns. DC has become a national laughingstock thanks to our DC council. You can forget about statehood now.

It feels like they are gunning to bring a control board back and by they I mean this Council AND this Congress.
