He's 18. He committed a crime with a weapon. By the time he gets out, he will be over 21 and will have aged out of public HS. |
Actually, a big part of the reason why homes are more expensive in Wootton district is the location of those homes. There are very few apartments. There are way fewer R40- or R60-zoned developments for Wootton also compared with in RM, which has downtown Rockville, Twinbrook, Hungerford, and many other areas with higher density zoning. |
Sure, RM is demographically more diverse, but the IB is open to anyone in 11th and 12th grade and there is nothing remotely comparable at Wootton so there are richer academic opportunities at RM that aren't available to Wootton students. |
Your post supports (maybe unintentionally) "RM is nothing but another ghetto school without IB" argument. |
DP.. not at all, it just means that RM has AP, IB, and regular whereas Wootton just has AP and regular.. ie "there are richer academic opportunities at RM that aren't available to Wootton students.". |
And has been said time and time again on others posts that colleges do not care about random IB courses, only the full diploma. So kids are better off taking AP's |
Not IB kid |
|
We had one kid in IB magnet in RM and one in Wootton.
I can't tell much about non-magnet in RM, but IB magnet was fantastic. I will pick that over Wootton any day. |
| Isn't there 25-30 seats reserved for RM cluster kids for IB magnet? That's a huge advantage. |
Hardly, it's a fine school with superior academic opportunities available to all its students. |
Not true at all. When most colleges recalculate GPA they give the same bump for AP and IB classes. Many give no bump for honors. |
+1 college application has a place for AP or IB courses, but not a place for IB diploma (from what I recall when I reviewed DC's college app). DC is in IB magnet. RM has a ton of AP classes, and all of the IB students take AP classes, too. |
Full pass. |
great.. room for other kids who want IB magnet. |
| Right before the Giant across from Wootton closed we said our goodbyes to the cashiers. They mentioned that the Wootton kids would come in everyday at lunch and after school and steal hundreds of dollars worth of merchandise. So, they are not all angels. |
