You don’t think they realize that they do this? |
I doubt they realize how off-putting it is. |

I'd love to know whether the admin wrote this or if some fool at Gatehouse wrote it. |

There seems to be a lot of hype on this thread. I have seen no other place where people are worried about staffing. This seems to be a normal year?
Nothing in: - newsletters from school board members - newsletters from my child’s schools - during my child’s IEP meeting - in the Washington Post - FCPS news releases I’m not convinced that this is actually a problem. Teachers come and go every year. |
+1 Teachers also screamed about this year, saying it would be a sh*t show and it wasn’t. |
Pshhhh. Please don't come on here in September, upset that your kid's class started without an actual classroom or special ed teacher. We tried to tell you. |
It has been all over the news nationwide that teachers are leaving in droves. There will be many kids starting the year without a full time teacher. |
+1. It's a problem. School board member are trying to hold onto their seats or get promoted to BOS. There is no way in hell they want to advertise that a record number of teachers left the district during their term. A specific school may not be personally impacted or may be holding onto that information for the same reason as above, plus real numbers for FCPS are just starting to come in. An IEP team is not going to tell a parent during a meeting that they are looking at a lot of special education vacancies next year because that invites all sorts of problems, plus the IEP meeting was probably before the end of the school year so they may not have had the numbers yet anyway. Washington Post has mentioned the staffing shortages in summer school already. Teachers had until June 15 to resign w/o prejudice or transfer so some of the official numbers are starting to leak out. Individual schools are advertising on social media, FCPS is holding virtual job fairs and advertising separately for special ed positions, and other school districts are posting alarming numbers about staff departures. I suspect for a lot of people it's not a problem for them just yet so they "don't see it". |
Why would they advertise a problem that they have no solution for? |
and your odds of not having a full time teacher are increased if your kid goes to Eagle View. From that recruiting page, we know that school’s admin is in the toilet. |
I beg to differ. It very much was a poop show. |
I’m pretty sure schools write their own content for their web pages. |
The school is getting new admin. Someone said the principal is headed to Hunt Valley. |
Seems it varied from school to school. Some fared better/worse than others. |
