The resolution passed by a 50-48 vote, with four Republicans – Susan Collins of Maine, Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, Bill Cassidy of Louisiana and Rand Paul of Kentucky – breaking with their party to vote in favor. John Fetterman, of Pennsylvania, was the sole Democrat to vote against it.

Fetterman is insufferable

So. Practically speaking what effect does this have? No more funding for anything connected to Trump’s debacle??

I wouldn't go that far. We have to give Iran money for our surrender

The money is not Congress's to appropriate. The money is Iran's money that we've been holding for decades.

The $300B is money Trump will "arrange" as a reparation fund ON TOP of Iran's frozen assets. It's in the MOU. If Trump doesn't pony up he's violated the agreement and then back to closing down the SOH.

No. Iran is getting $2 million for each tanker that passes through the strait. That is 130 tankers x $2 million each day or about 91 billion a year.

Why wouldn't Iran shut the SOH down to get the $300B all at once?

Rubio is currently in the ME begging companies to invest in Iran to get that $300 b.

who will do that?

I just don't see how this MOU will hold to the terms laid out, which is why it was written so vaguely in the first place.

But I can see Iran closing its eyes on some of it, as long as everyone can still pretend the money will be forthcoming or whatever, to get out of this political mess. They don't want to close the Strait, it messes up trade for themselves as well. So maybe all those investments will not actually come to pass, but their own funds will be unfrozen, Israel and Hezbollah will tone it down for a bit, that sort of thing.

The spirit of the MOU, basically. Not the letter of the MOU.

$300B is not one time fee, it is paid in increments.

Trump is now asking for 99 billion for the Iran war. Let our children have no medical care, no school lunches(didn't he say that?) Why do girls need dolls when we have an Iran war to engage in and to pay to Iran?

So we have lost the war, and have to negotiate terms of surrender? Is this really happening?

That does not cover the cost of the war which was birth of $250 billion.

Oh the US government is buying more inceptors for a trillion dollars and these weapon systems have an under 5% inception rate for ballistic missiles from Iran.

Maybe so. But it’s all theater.
The GOP reversed itself on the War Powers vote.
The founders are rolling in their graves.
