+1O I want a new VADOE secretary, political staff/appointees and contractors. |
+1 I voted for Youngkin, but I would NOT have voted for him if Trump had been up here campaigning. |
Still waiting for final election results, |
Great, this dude is going to wreck Virginia’s economy— he wants huge tax cuts and just assumed “growth” will make up the difference. That has never worked.
“The centerpiece is a package of one-time tax cuts totaling about $1.8 billion and recurring tax cuts amounting to about $1.4 billion per year. The cuts include one-time rebates of $300 for individual taxpayers and $600 for couples filing jointly; suspending an increase in the state’s gasoline tax; and enacting a tax holiday for small businesses. In the recurring part of the package, he proposed doubling the state’s standard income-tax deduction, making it $9,000 for an individual and $18,000 for a couple filing jointly. Another proposal that generated popular support on the campaign trail was eliminating the state’s 2.5 percent tax on groceries. His aides said they were confident that the state could absorb the loss of annual revenue at current expected economic growth rates.” |
Yes, it would have been great if Virginians had rejected election lies and culture wars but they did not and now we continue to risk the health of our democracy.
“ But even though Youngkin isn’t as bad as Trump, he has nonetheless flirted with some of the worst of Trumpism, at one point refusing to acknowledge Biden won the election and throughout the election casting critical race theory as a threat. It would have been great if Virginia decisively rebuked a candidate who traffics in even small amounts of Trumpism.” |
Northam met with Youngkin to begin transition and members of both parties called to congratulate Youngkin. Imagine if thr Republican party knew how to behave civilly in a democratic society instead of launching a never-ending campaign of “the election was stolen” lies that have been enabled by nearly all Republicans, including our Governor-elect. I hope the Republican party can stop being crazy and conspiracy-addled and rejoin reality soon. |
If you know CRT is being taught, it would be interesting if you could point to, you know, evidence that CRT is being taught. |
The board will certify the election on Nov 15th. |
Playing linguistic gotcha games around the precise definition of CRT to gaslight parents is a losing strategy. Find a new one. |
Hopefully this is a sign that the GOP will reject Trump and all of that craziness. |
They're going to double down. |
A private equity guy is going to wreck the state's budget? Who knew? |
Lying about what is actually happening in classrooms seems to work though. |
Didn’t work for the Dems, who were the ones lying. |
