And, every Democratic Senator who has spoken out has said “I believe her.” Despite the fact that they haven’t heard from her. So, we’ll call this a draw.

The FBI already declined to do an investigation after Feinstein passed it to them. It's not their jurisdiction to investigate what would be a state offense involving minors in a private home.

They investigated the Anita Hill accusations as part of the background check. So you are wrong.

https://www.npr.org/2018/09/20/649853869/fact-check-can-the-senate-enlist-the-fbi-to-reopen-a-kavanaugh-investigation

According to that piece

Democrats want Ford's story to carry the imprimatur of the FBI, even if, more than 30 years after the fact, investigators might not be able to do much more than take the statements of people involved...Or as a Justice Department statement phrased it earlier this week: "The FBI does not make any judgment about the credibility or significance of any allegation."

I get why the committee just wants to hear the allegations directly from each side because that's what they will end up having to do anyway.

Does anyone else get the idea that Mrs. Kavanaugh and her friends are some busy bees on these threads?

Because we bring evidence to contradict assertions people are making here?

Has it occurred to you that some people here want to safeguard the seriousness with which women's assault allegations are taken and feel that is undermined by high profile allegations as flimsy as Ford's?

Agree. I am appalled by these liberals who say we should believe her, regardless of any evidence, because women should be believed....because....well....

I bet these same women would sing a different tune if their husbands were accused.

And I bet YOU would sing a different tune if you or your daughter had been assaulted and no one believed you.

DP. If my daughter had been assaulted, I would counsel her to make a report IMMEDIATELY. Not to, you know, wait 35+ years and then expect to be believed.

Yes, great mother you are, if your daughter was so tramatized and begged you not to force her to make a report you'd force her to. Good going.

And when her accuser says no he didn't do it and no one believes your daughter, glad to know that you'd still be on the side of men who are publicly called out for their assaults.

I'd bet you'd have been one of the high school students who didn't stick up for this girl. I feel sorry for your daughter.

Maybe feel sorry for your daughter who has a mother who encourages her weakness.

This is the issue that is at the center of this for me. This could have happened last week, been a violent rape, Ford could have video and DNA evidence and it still wouldn’t matter to the GOP because for many of them, women. aren’t. people.

(And I know there will be some goppers who have difficulty with this post, so I will say that very clearly: I am not suggesting that this happened last week, was a violent, or that she has video and DNA evidence. Just that it wouldn’t matter to you if it were the case.

Nice try. Of course it would matter. This alleged incident, however, has none of those characteristics. Sorry.

Silly poster.
I am a Republican. I am a woman. Nobody I know who is Republican takes this viewpoint.
You have been led, by the media you watch and read, to believe nonsense because this is their way of firing you up. Looks like their strategy works on you.

Thanks Boris.

Oye. They're still with the Russian stuff when they can't refute.

I think they find it really clever... when it’s anything but. Lazy comes to mind.

Kavanaugh accuser Ford fled Washington life -- now she's coming back
https://www.washingtonpost.com/local/christine-bla...8-8792-78719177250f_story.html

Ford went as far away from here as possible.
She told no one for 30 years; the only thing worse than what happened would be others knowing -- the nightmare scenario of which is currently underway.
She became an expert in post-traumatic resilience; Thursday she will face the ultimate test.

Meanwhile Kavanaugh stayed, following the stellar path laid out for him, achieving great success in all facets of life, now sitting atop the Washington society they both grew up in -- many of us know it well.
That society, by and large, is with him. To attack him is to attack them, and the lives they lead.

Amazing Washington story.
Sad for all involved.

So that’s what suburban white women who support an establishment Republican look like. I always wondered about that.

Kavanaugh has saved his calendars from high school. Can they not confirm him merely because this is really weird that he's saved them?

Kavanaugh has calendars from summer 1982 that he plans to give the Senate that don't show a party that matches Blasey Ford's description, according to someone working for his confirmation. Calendars can't prove it didn't happen but his team will argue there is no corroboration.

The calendars show he was out of town much of the summer at the beach or with his parents and they detail basketball games, movie outings, football workouts and so forth. A few parties are mentioned but include names of people other than those identified by Blasey Ford.

I don’t find this highly unusual. My DH has his calendars from way, way back. There are some people who just keep stuff like that. My DH keeps a lot of other stuff, too, but that is a different story. Fortunately, we have a lot of storage area. Or, maybe, unfortunately.

The FBI didn't "decline" - the White House has to authorize it, which it could on its own, or at the request of either the accused or the Senate.

Context is important. In the 1980's as a teen, you just didn't report these sort of things, particularly when the accused's mother was the local prosecutor. Today, in the context of metoo and the conversations taking place between parents and their daughters all across the country, future victims hopefully will feel empowered.

I have my calendar from 1982 as well. Do you know what isn't in them? Impromptu gatherings after a day at the country club.
